do it myself flowhood

any ideas, comments, 2 cents (lol), suggestions, opinions, are very much appreciated so here she is :

So I plan on constructing a flow hood here are my rough blue prints

ok so first imagine a box 4x4x2 (length, width, height)

now at the back I will be adding a pre filter which will be composed of AC filter which says it blocks viruses and bacteria

then once inside a small HEPA filter fan will be added by constructing a wall and then a hole in the middle just big enough for the fan to fit then seal it

after the fan there will be a UV light added between the HEPA fan and another HEPA filter which will be much larger than the fan

I've used Paul Stamets book for all my calculations and such and they are all in compliance I'm roughly at 330 F.P.M at 1" static inch

so anything yall have to add I would love to hear please and thanks everyone

yes, buidling your own flow hood is a good idea, especially when getting into gourmets also.

your math seems to be off... and i dont know where because you didnt show your work.

But dont worry!!!
i wrote up a little summary of flow rates needed to create a laminar flow enviroment for common HEPA filter sizes used here.

Understand, that your 4' x 2' is not a very commonly used filter here because they are intended for ceiling grid filtration.

But thats ok also, because lips of anubis made one, had success, then disappeared kinda... but he used an inline blower and not a squirrel cage fan that is more commonly used.

HERE is my write up about laminar flow benches.

HERE is lips of anubis flow bench.

and remember, your not building a flow hood if it doesnt actually have a hood. its just a bench.

Hey man hell yea dude build it up! I built the one in my sig (which I'm quite proud of hahaha) a couple months ago.

I built a housing around my blower and put a pre filter at the top, the boards can be unscrewed to change the filter.

Once you have your blower and filter sourced and matched the rest depends on how well you can build a box. I'm no carpenter so it was a challenge for me.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20807149

This is my build log. Its pretty straight forwards. Evilmushroom666 has a good one too if you google it.

Most of us use squirell cage blowers, some use inline fans but the squirell cage blower is easier to work with IMO.

I dont know too much about UV light but Ive read they aren't too useful in this hobby.

Just match up your blower and filter correctly, and have the proper space behind the HEPA and seal it all up with silicone very well.

The pre filter is really just there to pick up large bits to extend your life of the HEPA
