possible cobweb in grain jars...

my pet ocelot did a grain to grain inoculation of 5 rye quart jars last tuesday. the jars are all pretty much done...only 6 days after inoculation. i know that doing grain to grain inoculation runs high risk of contamination. is 6-7 days abnormally fast to colonize a quart jar of rye? i know that not having to wait for spore germination should take some time off but 6 days seems kinda fast. if so then i think i might have cobweb. i'll try to get some pics of the jars but my digital camera sucks a lot. what does cobweb smell like? the jars smell normal. i think i'm probably just being paranoid.

Well, things do get underway much quicker using grain to grain, so all could still be well. Oftern you will get fast lighter growth that colonises quickly, but then thickens. So time will tell.
The cobweb will also be above the substrate in the top of the jar, to a higher point that cubensis would normally reach, so have a close look at the air pocket in the jar top, and see how high what your growing is going.
Good luck, but i have a feeling your ok.

No sorry, what i mean is, that the cobweb grows in and above the substrate, but it grows quite fluffy, and to around 2 cm above the surface, as a fine cotton wool looking mass. Wear as cubensis mycelium, I have never seen grow higher than 1/5 cm above the surface, and then only as rhizos.. do you see what i mean ?

oh, yes. it's definitely not cobweb then. the mycelium has gotten thicker/brighter and i'm not worried at all anymore. my ocelot is just very surprised at how fast it colonized. <3 paid
