This has gone on long enough. Humidity causes air currents on a global scale let alone a small vented jar. heres a pic showing global humidity currents https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fstream2.cma.gov.cn%2Fpub%2Fcomet%2FFireWeather%2FS290Unit5TemperatureandRelativeHumidityRelationships%2Fcomet%2Ffire%2Fs290%2Funit5%2Fprint.htm&ei=IJnGVIn5E4OuyASy4oKgDQ&bvm=bv.84349003,d.aWw&psig=AFQjCNEQBH2rrkiwqXrrQGwsnkXLLzPGhw&ust=1422387867589302 Gas exchanges when the temp of one gas is dif from the temp of another gas regaurdless of gas density or specific gravityoccurs on a global scale let alone a small vented jar. Here is a wiki showing thermal equilibrium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_equilibrium . The jar is not seal therefore abides by the laws of thermal dynamics n gas equilibrium. Thats why CO2 doesnt settle to the bottom of the jar. but if the jar was sealed n all the O2 was used up by the growing myc then the jar would become stagnant n die out.
