On topic, I think nanotechnology is going to play a big part of the evolution of humanity. Imagine having nano-computers that reside in our bodies and communicate with our brain directly, then think of having that computer system hooked up to a global wireless network. I'd love to be able to ask Google anything I wanted during any moment of the day.

Maybe humanity will simply merge with its own technology. Peace.

The shuttle gets to space pretty quickly, so I doubt it will be that much quicker. But the frequency of sending loads into space will be far greaters with the elevator.
