Weed actually helps me be more alert when driving.
My gateway drug was alcohol.

I started smoking at 8. Smoked on and off until i was fully addicted at 12. 12-13 i was drinking cider. Proabaly huffed gas and glue between 10 and 12, it was common back then, people used to get high off asthma inhalors. 13 started weed, was a pot head by 15. Still drank occasionally. 19 i started going out clubbing, this is where i started taking pills, coke on occasion, drank a lot on and off. Speed came later on mid 20's i think. Speed stopped me drinking then i got sick of speed and never took drinking up again. Now i just do weed and trip out once a month maybe. I don't even drink at Christmas.
Where would you say i started dabbling with drugs ? Weed ? When i had already been getting high for 5 years ?

You're right. Random muscle relaxers were my real gateway drug even I tho took them after I used alcohol. They were much more consequential in sparking my interest in drugs.

Sure, it may start out with a few puffs of a marijuana cigarette, but it can make people want to explore their mind further. Most stoners I know did start out with weed and tried psychedelics, MDMA and more drugs after that.
We really don't know what is in the weed anyways. Whether it is chemicals, pesticides and we have no idea what the ratios of THC to CBD are. These factors would make me cautious to ever yet a young adult try it who's brain is still in development.
Weed is also getting stronger and isn't like it was before. More and more weed is getting more powerful and children are exposed to these toxic chemicals with no idea of what they are taking. Dealers can also lace the drugs with things like rat poison and antizfreeze or PCP to get the user hooked.
So in case anyone missed this post, this should tell you all that he's just trolling. I'm impressed this piece of shit thread has lasted this long

The only reason alcohol doesn't "spark interest" in other drugs like some do is because we grew up with it being fully legal and not even being considered a drug, so your whole anti legalization stance doesn't make any sense.

The only problem with legalization is this.
As a society, do we want to give children and young adults the message that weed is okay? By legalizing it we are basically telling them there is nothing wrong with pot. Studies have proven that smoking weed when the brain is still developing can bring out mental illness and other problems later on.
With alcohol being legal, young people already think that it is socially acceptable to drink. It is not uncommon for 16 year olds to be given alcohol by their parents for parties or hanging out with friends. Do we want weed to be more accessible to children and give them the message that it is okay to get high?

So basically what you're inferring is that alcohol being legal is perfectly fine just because society expects it to be but weed being legal is so much worse because God forbid young people should actually be able to see through the propaganda?
What a flawed argument

No, my argument is that making weed so much more accessible and socially acceptable to young adults is giving them the wrong idea.

Young adults and teen are getting the idea that it is okay to get high. Legalization encourages them to smoke up even more.

From the surveys and articles I've seen, that's not the case at all. I don't know anybody who's had an interest in smoking weed decide not go through with it just because it's illegal. With the exception of people being afraid to go to jail for it due to a drug test.
