Rehab Program
    #21176236 - 01/25/15 07:28 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Not AA. Can't be just for alcohol. "Drugs" and alcohol. I'm not sure if they even specify certain drugs, like benzo's, between alcohol or not (obviously heroin rehab is different)

For reasons i will not get into i have to go into one of these programs. I have no money to spend on it, and am in Colorado. Honestly, i fucked up, and i took too many valium. I've taken 120mg's before and just been chill, but i took less than that and i was GONE. Tolerance builds fast,, and goes away at unknown speeds, obviously.

Whatever, it's now a for sure that i have to go through something. I have NO intention of quitting these, or any other drugs, except alcohol, over time. I'm a heavy drinker and that's the only drug i've abused that i can see noticeably bad effects from long term use. But there's frankly no fucking way i'm quitting pot/mushrooms/klonopin/ketamine/acid. Ain't gon happen, captains.

Blah blah i know, point is i want to get into the simplest, fastest and easiest program available. It's not court mandated, and if there is one out there that doesn't blood/urine test (which i'm sure is court mandated right?) than i want that one.

You're going to rehab just to lower your tolerance?

I'm starting to lose respect for members here more and more each and every day it seems...

I doubt there is any rehab that will support your efforts if you are honest about your intentions. By the way, very few people in AA are strictly there for alcohol problems. I was addicted to oxycontin and many other drugs but AA IS my recovery program of choice. There really aren't many other options. If you are really addicted to valium, chances are slim your "lower tolerance" will last very long, you'll be back where you started and worse, likely, and the rehab will have been a waste of money. Being sober is great man but if you're not ready do whatever you need to do

Life is about making choices, OP.  Making choices and then experiencing the consequences.  Here's to hoping all your consequences are just what you want.

My honest recommendation is to (safely) get yourself a taste of what you've gotten yourself into. By this I mean try to take a couple days off the benzos/booze so you can understand the panicky-hell/seizures/death that awaits you if you run out.

My guess is you wont have much trouble at all dropping your tollerance after that experience.

Sounds like you need help but don't want it. The first step is acceptance and from what I'm reading your nowhere near that. A simple fast and easy program is not what someone looks for when they really want help.

Once you have truly accepted the fact that you need help, you will realize that you can't do it alone. You need help and must trust others who have been in the same or worse position you are to help you.

It's time to toss the keys to someone else because you are not capable of driving yourself through the smoke of recovery in your current state of mind.

It's like the movie 300 when Leonidas drops his shield and sword because he knows it's over. He had accepted his fate. That's your first step.

You know you need it, but the most important part is WANTING it.

And you can't pick and choose a program to suit your needs. It's all or nothing. Maybe your not in a bad enough situation to really want it. You have to give up control and will do so when you TRULY WANT to.

I have heard first hand from drug addicts that prefer AA because many people show up at NA using, and there is too much discussion about drug use stories.

Obviously, you have never even been to any type of rehab AT ALL. I got court mandated into a program for alcohol, with people who were using every drug imaginable on earth.

I complained that I was not using pcp, or a heroin junkie, therefor I did not belong in this class.

The counseler then took me into his office, and said to me, "so, you think you are better than these people, huh"?

"Well, let me tell you, you are far from it, if you are truly an alcoholic(and you can add benzo's to this) you know who is going to have the most hellish w/drawals, and very possibly death, YOU"

If you have ever been w/o benzo's(when you are really addicted) THEY ARE HELL to withdraw from, as someone said above, very carefully withdraw yourself from these things, as in go sometime w/o them. You hopefully will feel the wd coming on without seizing out and possibly dying first. I have done it many times, and if you live throught it, you will be FUCKED UP for at least 6 months, as in you feel as thought you are going to seize out at any moment.

I wish you luck op, and no, heroin rehab is no different then alcohol-benzo rehab, you are an addict, and are no different then the rest of these people, except for the fact that you just aren't going to feel shitty for a week, you are going to for a LONG TIME, if you don't die!

Why the fuck are you even going if you don't plan on quitting, and it's not court mandated, just maybe with your choice of going, someone will get throught to you, telling you about the sinking ship you are on!

Wait so you have no intention of quitting drugs but you want to go into a drug rehab program? That makes no sense. taper off slowly from the benzos, why do you need a program to do that? If anything talk to your doctor and have him prescribe you a taper schedule. Your post is bizarrely paradoxical, it starts out being about how you want / need rehab and ends by boasting about how you will never quit drugs. Why go to rehab if not to get clean?

He stated that he NEEDS to go to a program but it's not court mandated. It must be a significant other or employer that is requiring it. He doesn't WANT rehab, he just NEEDS it, and one without a urinalysis.
