I'll show you mine if you show me yours...Clean room pics

I want to see pics of your clean room/lab. Just for funsies...and cuz I just re-did mine and I want to show off

the third pic is where my jars, plates, and bags incubate. Do you think the sunlight from the window will hurt the mycelium? I didn't want to have curtains in my clean room and I like the natural light while I work. Maybe I move the cultures to the closet and my supplies out into the light. What do y'all think?

That glass topped desk is sweet.
I keep all of my plates stacked around the hood. All of my bags go in a closet in the same room, because it's the only shelf I have and my jars go under my bed or on top of the cabinets in the kitchen because I have a space heater in the bedroom and the forced air heater for the house is in the kitchen. It's the warmest spots.

nice n tidy. i like it! great idea putting a lamp on the flow hood like that. i keep all my cultures incubating at 55-60 (my whole house is this cold in the winter). its not ideal for spawn but they seem fine and it actually allows the plates to last longer, i'm finding.

Yea this was when I first set it up...not so neat and tidy now. Well everything still has it's place, there's just dozens of plates stacked on either side of the hood at any given moment haha. I couldn't work without the lamp, not enough light without it. Mine stays in the mid 60s, so I just try to find the warmer spots to tuck away spawn to try and get them close to 70.

oh, that's cool, blindingleaf. its hard to do bags in front of a small flow hood. even mine, 18 inches tall, can be difficult at times to get the bag in a good position for transfers so the flow is going in the bag. dig the warehouse clean room. what kind of sheeting are the walls made of?

its basically one of those large pitch tents u would use at a farmers market. we did the best we could to "seal" it along the bottom perimeter. the cement floor was coated with some kind of enamel (i forget the name of it now, i can look), and then we built the ante room in front of it for changing. the blower is pretty strong, so it almost creates positive pressure (u can see the plastic walls expand when blower gets turned on), but it is far from perfect. we are still getting everything figured out. but for now its working like a charm!!

lions mane

those are our main two varieties. we did piopinnos for a while, but for some reason, they are doing terrible now. maybe its the cold. tried 3 different strains to no avail. can't get them bigger than an inch before they break veil used to look like this a couple months ago
 now they look like this

Mine is only 12" x 12". So I either keep the bag to the side of the flow so that the opening stays in front of it when doing G2G (jar>bag). At one point I used to put the whole filter up on 2x4s to get a couple of extra inches in height.

That's what I do too Mr g with my hood at home. The bulk of the bag is closest to my body, the opening is facing the hepa and up, I come in with jar from behind and pour. It's a pita so I don't do it often

sweet. I need to install a changing room one of these days. for now i just shower in the bathroom right beside the door to my clean room, change into clean clothes, and get in there as fast as possible. i don't have much contamination problems. in fact, i dont think i've lost a single sterile plate/slant/jar/bag in several months. pasteurized subs are another story. arg!

If we have contamination its because of spawn. We always keep one bag out of each run UN inoculated so that if the whole run goes bad, but the test bag does not, we know it's the spawn. I do bring clean clothes every day to change into before inoculation though, and I pc the tyvek suits btw use. As we get more income hopefully we can improve the lab structure but for now it's ok. We just started on this whole thing a few months ago, so we learn something everyday! Drake and lipa have some cool clean room shots as well

Sticky mats help keep things clean as well as a changing room. Truth be told I rarely change clothes and only wear gloves. No more suits. I might get some sleeves again.
Positive pressure output in the lab

Having trouble formatting, so we've got positive pressure. A shop vac with the vacuum outside the lab. The 100 gal stainless steam chambers open in front of the flowhood. The only downside is we have to load them in the lab. It's OK tho.
3x4' flowhood with a foot pedal operated sealer. There's a rack of 200 or so pounds of grain spawn just made. Should last a week or two depending on how I use it.

Cool vacuum, Drake. Are your sterilizers insulated on the other side of that wall?
Here's my new lab space (in a basement over 100 years old) and first home built hood:

that's a pro lookin' hood, jayz
drake, you're giving me so many good ideas here. i love the sticky pads at the doorways. i also like the foot-operated sealer. its frustrating to seal and hold the bag closed in the flow. i started zip-tying instead. i am trying to brainstorm how to create sterile positive pressure in my lab and how to sterilize more efficiently. my lab is a spare bedroom in my house and right now i'm using a stovetop PC. I wonder if the AA75's have a larger capacity than my 22 quart PC. I could run that in my clean room. Love the steam sterilizer in the wall idea. How come you can't load it outside the lab? It looks like you made both ends open...
Good stuff, deadmandave. can i ask you about that sterilizer? it doesn't release pressure as it cools, am i right? so how does pressure release work?

DAMN DUDE!! we use maybe 56#'s spawn a week for btw 1300-1500lbs sub. 260#'s a run x 5-6 days a week. can't wait till i get to that point!! i like the vacuum idea for positive pressure as well. we just use bleach soaked croc's for the lab.
