Bags all the way. Same yield but fruits in 3d space. I treat them as big blocks. And you can make them however. Supp with bran, grains... Inoculate with grains, LC, agar...

Yeah if you want to follow along, best is to just post in the thread and check your threads section (I look at it like a hundred times a day lol)

But you can also just bookmark it in your browser.  That’s usually what I do.. if you’re paranoid about having it in your browser bookmarks, use the site function as pitcher described

Maybe someone can educate me on the definition of a flush. With this jedi shoebox, after spawning to coir, I left it alone and didn't open it once until fruits started to open their veils. I would harvest all the fruits, even the little ones, give it a heavy mist, and then keep it closed until next time I had to harvest. I did that about 3-4 times before submerging the brick for about 10min or so. Before I submerged it, the output was getting minimal, and I guess dunking it was my attempt at trying to push it some more. I'm getting some okay pinning now, also some side pins. Because the weather has gotten really hot, I find that I'm misting HEAVY 1x-2x daily now.

I think next time I run a shoe, I need to get my FC a little bit better. Probably was on the drier side for this one.

And here's what my next two shoes are gonna be. PE on corn and coir. Want to try bod's method; straight coir on both, one of them I'm gonna put a top layer of coir, one I'm not. And I think I'm gonna wrap the shoes with plastic wrap...not sure. My thought is that, my coir wasn't fully colonized this go around before I was seeing pins, so by cutting the airflow, it will colonize more evenly. Then I can unwrap when ready to Fruit.

How's my train of thought?

The "flush" is when the mushrooms pop up. Each time you had to harvest was the end of the flush when the veils broke. You misted instead of dunking to re-hydrate between flushes, and it sounds like you got a bunch of them.

So what you did worked.

The big dunk as a last resort was probably not a bad idea either, but really the goal is to maximize your yield from the first flush by providing the perfect amount of air, substrate, and water.

Each subsequent flush will always have slightly weaker mycelium than the previous as it ate up the available nutrition, and as such, higher chance of growing mold, and usually lower yield.

Some folks don't go past the second flush, some don't even go past the first.

Cult pic:

Made some Pan. Bisporus T1 plates, a pan bisporus LC from clean growth on a germination plate, and put some grocery store cloned Oyster LC to three jars of straw. I just really liked how the lab looked in this pic.

Thank you friend. With that knowledge, then I believe that my conditions were never correct from the beginning, and I've been chasing this one for enough moisture. After the big dunk, I'm getting a better pinset then even my first flush, and I'm having to mist is 2x a day, heavily.

Next one will be better.
