No mushroom taste whatsoever. Even when concentrated. Ruby reds just so we're clear

^^^ I like making a quick soup (even just a bullion cube or instant soup pack). I think savory flavours compliment the mushrooms better.

I'm back with my corn jars
Semperviva from 2016 is alive. more interestingly Shooting Star spores from 2012 germinated just with the usual print>syringe>corn procedure. when choosing it among my stash of prints, I imagined a few failures and a sad give-up
so far (~3 days mycelium life), Semperviva myc was way faster than both shooting star and another cube I just inoculated.(Elephant dung) Sempers germinated 1 days earlier, and myc growth is quite faster than others as well. I doubt if the cubes will win the race after all I've read many many times, sempervivas are slow colonizers and much slower when the amazing fruiting times comes.
gonna clean & isolate the sempervivas on agar, cause I think they worth the effort/time. (which fungi doesn't ?) I experimented with a new made-up (or maybe I'm unaware of) recipe for my agar : usual PDA agar stuff, but with equal parts of potato and Beetroot. this :
unfortunately, don't have photo of the final liquid , prior to sterilization. it was a very beautiful red solution. right before pouring the plates, I tasted it, it wasn't sweet. maybe a little. not easy to taste the sweetness. (some beetroots may have high sugar content) so I thought it's gonna be my replacement for red food color. Guess what, it came out greenish/brown after sterilization.
will update the new stuff here as things go.

I'm using a kind of new to age Shiitake method. Prior to this decade logs were the standard, but the community has developed much faster methods using hardwood saw dust and nutrition. The process still requires simulated winter and spring showers as well as emulating a tree falling in the form of slapping the shiitake blocks around a bit. But where a log takes 8months to a year to fruit, sawdust blocks only take 6 weeks

Revived a PE6 master jar from the fridge and finally got around to making 10 oat jars for g2g receiving jars for it. Also have two jars of each, Ecuador, Golden Halo, B+, and KSS clone master jars going. Waiting on my APE and Rust Whyte plates to colonize their T1/T2 plates.

Lovely, I really like the print labels lol like how I'd imagine Double D's setup from Ed, Edd and Eddy... I do hope you have all kinds o things labeled around the place (also, mmmm APE and R.Whyte... APE is the one I am really amped up to get going here soon , and RustyWhyte would just be neat and pertty on the shelves, should I win a slot in a certain giveaway )

If you don’t have a rusty white print by the time mine grow out I’d be happy to send you one. Some of the labels on my jars are the wrong date lol. The PE6 were gdg’d on 11/13 not 10/13 haha. It’s funny you say DD. My girlfriend is like DD and her nickname is Dee or Dee Dee lol. I always tell her to stay out of my laboratory when I go into the mycology space.

Edit: oh you meant Edd lol... I was thinking Dexter’s Laboratory for some reason. You have some APE swabs already? I have a couple extra I could send you one if you don’t.
