I'd say it's typical, and that 2nd flush will bring larger fruits... And 3rd flush larger still

But if you get something out of a bacterial jar the inside of the fruits will be clean and you can get a clean clone pretty easy.

Also I've had slightly smaller fruits when I misted way too heavily but I do not know how much of it was genetics vs. conditions

Yeah I get that you can still get good fruits from bacterial spawn and I'm all on board for making use of what will grow.

But as a noob I'm just saying maybe its better to learn early what bacterial spawn is so you know the deal

Otherwise a noob may grow out bacterial spawn while never even realizing there's a problem to address, leading to taking on bigger projects without addressing core issues

But in the end we all just want to grow mushrooms instead of throwing out spawn so I guess you guys are right :justdontknow:

Nice! I just knocked up 2 spawn bags of TYC. I love how fast and aggressive it is. Mine came from a 5 year old print I got from eatyualive and the spores still germinate super fast.

But judging by their small size (4" height) and small girth, they could still grow more? I'm basing this expectation upon other PESA pictures I've seen. It they don't grow any bigger, then yes it could be genetics, or something environmental (ie. water, substrate)?

My PESA are also small. Genetics.

During the 4th gen Rustic stabilization run some unusual phenotypes appeared.

While they did throw rust colored spores, the aesthetic appearance was not the one that I have been capturing from generation to generation.  However, I know a good thing when I see it and grabbed some tissue samples.  These were grown out on petris & then clean wedges were dropped into sterile water with a stir bar and left to expand for another 7-10 days.

Testing is next, then cold storage.

Its his first time with agar, that is more risky and more of a hassle if you dont have the proper blender. I would stray away from liquids until you get a few successful grows with agar before doing liquids

This ain't my first time with agar.  I said first transfer.  On this culture.
I'll probably steer clear from li for now.
What I was really asking is if I should be innocculating these jars with a wide variety of strains?  Or should I take a tiny sliver and grow that out to 7 plates, so that there's not a ton of genetics in my tub.  I realize it's still ms, not an isolate, but shouldn't I be trying to limit the amount of strains in a substrate?

It's not that much of a issue. While yes limiting genetics can be beneficial. I've seen some ms grows out perform some of the nicest clones. If it's clean and pretty uniform throw that shit on grain. Colonize it. Fruit it. Have fun.

Thanks for the humble help brother.  I been thinking about this morning.  Your li, does exactly what I'm talking about.  Makes sure all jars have the same genetics.  I'm gonna stick to the scalpel and agar this run.
It is fun my man.  I'm learning a ton from you guys:bigblunt:

Looks like the "Don't store your children in this box (not enough FAE)" sticker that comes on the lid of some tubs.
