I have ms cultures made both ways and clone cultures made both ways. Lay/mix trays are ahead in pinning across the board.

Thanks mate. Came out to 34g dry, for 2 qts at 1:1 that seems eh but maybe the second flush will put out some bigguns. Did some open air fruiting on the last two days which seemed to help quite a bit

Not to shabby if you ask me. I’m still on cakes though so it’s nowhere near as much a yield as shoeboxes or monos. I’m pretty content on my cakes for now, but I’d love to get a yield like yours even if you think it’s eh lol. Fingers crossed for your second flush

Nice! I guess the only way to truly test lay/mix would be an isolate, but with the way things are going for you I wouldn't be surprised if laid took the cake. Based on mental visualization alone I can see how layering could work better, maybe it could eventually be considered a way to spawn bacterial grain with higher success for those who can't let go of bacterial spawn.
Do you have isolates in the works? I'd love to see how this plays out.
Higher fungi are so strange in the way they operate, there are soooo many lower fungi that will grab hold and take off at the smallest opportunity, but higher fungi are so god damn picky.
It would be awesome if a biohacker managed to produce an engineered psilocybin species with the aggressiveness and lack of fucks given as lower fungi.

Same clone
Small tray = small fruits (~150g WBS)
Medium size tub = medium size fruits (500ml WBS 2qt coir 20L tub)
Big tub = big fruits (1.5L WBS 4qt coir 60L tub)
Limited amount of water + limited amount of nutrients = limited size of fruits I think I will spawn a big tub tomorrow with this same clone to see if I get even larger fruits. I cloned primordia from plates, barely developed primordia very tiny, its nice to see that the clone grows along with its substrate

I doubt it. Spawning to straight Vern will likely take the cake when it comes to bacterial spawn

Mateah that looks like the opposite to me. Smaller the container the; denser the canopy in these examples. The mini mono is rocking it hard.

Looks to be a good day for everyone's shoeboxes!! Nice work everyone.
This shoebox is my second best. 2qts spawn in a 1:1 ratio. It's a clone, Brazilians.

8 of these jars total were spawned, all looked the same. This is how two mini tubs look like
And this is how one larger tub and 6 trays look like
What's up with these cultures? I honestly don't know what is what this is first time with grain to bulk
what's up is they are bacterial as fuck. I wouldn't spawn that in a million years
Well I spawned it anyway, to sterilized (cooked) coir, also got pretty consistent results across all the tubs and trays.
Several tubs have already put out impressive second flush pinsets.

How is it the opposite? The largers container contained the largest fruits, the smallest container the smallest fruits and the midle one produced size inbetween the small and the large fruits

Nice comparison. It seems like the small and medium produced a more even flush then the large one. Is it because it’s easier to keep conditions ideal with smaller totes?

I would say that the large tub would have performed as good as the small tray and the mini mono if I had taken care of it from the get go, I lost hope and didnt put much effort into that tub, I used it as a table for my equipment for a week or two, giving up hope on it totally, since it was slowest to pin. Now I wont give up hope so fast with bacterial spawn. It can still kick ass. I got around 600g fresh/qt spawn from the mini monos on the first flush

Still neat that it produced a decent flush for being bacterial. I had some jars that I didn’t think would colonize and I was going to throw them out until someone told me to be patient. They were late bloomers but still ended up being fully colonized. Guess sometimes you just got to ride it out and see what happens.

One of the mini monos put out around 1000 pins for the second flush. I counted 300 pins on 1/4 of the substrate surface. If 15-20% of those pins mature I will be thrilled, everything with this grow is just a bonus.

That’s some dedication to count 300 pins, I think I’d loose track hahaha. Good vibes for your second flush
