Damn, that WOULD be disappointing. I was just reading something where RR said you don't want to clone the actual fruit. He said when a culture proves to be a good fruiter, you want to go back to the youngest mycelium, and use that for a master slant.

its taking its sweet ass time too. all of my tamps cultures came from a cloned agar stone and all of my jars(oats) have stones growing in them except the jar i used for that shoebox. coincidentally it was also the only birdseed jar i inoculated with a stone producer.
in this limited example wbs=no stones

A fantastic first flush of Albino A+. These things take forever to colonize and fruit, but damned if they aren't prolific. And the fruits look beautiful when dried.
A monster family of Golden Teachers. About 192 grams when picked fresh.

Do you think these are looking close to clean? The multiple growth sites are from multiple attempts at depositing the agar wedge.

Dirty AF. You've got something riding along. The edge of the mycelium shows it very clearly. First pic at 7 o'clock has something black?? Can't tell for sure. But that edge of mycelium shouldn't be oily and faint and then go all up in the air from there, it should be nice and white until the mycelium stops and the blank agar starts. A clear division, not a faint mycelium edge diving in the agar and looking all wet. Hard to clean up shit like that ime.

I thought that too but a quick search proved that wrong.

Cool. Maybe it will look better after a few more transfers. Should i not take wedges from the leading edge then? How would you go about cleaning it up.

Probably because even the vendors get it wrong. But guzman and stamets have fucked taxonomy up plenty of times. And even wiki reflects some of these errors. Like another example p.weilii is actually just p.caerulescens found in Georgia
