I know they're not pretty, but they're mine!

One of my logs spent a week in my compost bin...

This one has been outside for about 3 weeks...

I confess I bought enough Coir from chew.com to get free shipping.

Oh, wrong sub?

Looks like you were getting ready for Halloween!!! Sorry, I’ve been working a TON and living off coffee, caffeine pills, and booze. You don’t need to break the agar like that, and people usually make one smooth streaking motion. There are different ways of streaking (check out youtube if you’d like) to reduce contamination levels from your source.

Looks like it’s ready to transfer.

I’ll sleep when I’m dead, for now I’ll our agar and do some transfers!!!

Umm, I’m a noob so don’t listen to me. Personally I flame my loop, cool it near the middle of the receiving plate (I do make a little hole it it). Then I scrape a small amount off my print and do a zigzag starting from where I cooled my loop. My thought it the liquid from the agar cooling my loop envelops the spores and gives them a nice cozy place to do their thing.
Once again I’ve knly done this 3-4 times (I susually do 5-8 petri at a time). But I see really thin mycelium running within 2-3 days at 70-75F.

There are other more cautious ways of doing this, but the way I see it I’m going to try and T1 before anything bad germinates. I might even T2 before the first plate could show contamination.

Not much, but its mine.
This tub was from an old petri I forgot about in my fridge, my first MS to agar project. This is my first monotub. It went for like a week at 60f, and never fully colonized, but I got some fruit. Grabbed a clone and some prints. Oh, and I got the big ass tub on accident so the sub is only like 2" deep

Even if it does mess up, you will have the opertunity to find out why. Then down the road you can do more work and lower the chances of failing big. It’s win win right now. Good luck!

When you say the French kind do you mean gourmet truffles? Those are impossible to grow indoors, they are mycorrhizal. You can start them at the base of hardwoods but you're lookin at 10+ years before you'll get a harvest.

As far as psychedelic truffles go, they are easier than cubes imho, they also tend to be more euphoric and energetic for me than cubes and don't get me as stuck in my head.

Yeah gourmet, and I dont plan on trying to cultivate those. But I think he would love the idea of psychedelic truffles. His 2 favorite things.

I think CzM8 was thinking the clone in the centre was to be removed?

But, Cz, the clone in the centre is what was placed on the petri. The subsequent mycelium is what Yesum is after. Hence the transfers you can see removed from the dish.

*I'm assuming, as the petri is labeled 'clone tissue'

All looking like this, thinking it's about time to shake?

Shake away. Like 4 days ago and you would have been fine. It seems most people recommend 25-30% colonization to shake.

oh yeah. so glad for the tek guides that have been made for us... now instead of cakes every few months in a sgfc, there is a piano-shelf loaded with shoeboxes that will never stop rotation... :hereyougo:

Wealth of knowledge here is great!!! I appreciate it all!

Also, I haven't given up on unmodified tubs, I bought some that were $8/each on sale about a month ago... But shoeboxes are so damn easy too.

I've got a RustyWhyte jar that I stuck a germination plate in, I think I'm just going to try a few 1.5qt Tupperware dish's and dubtub them.
