air bubble, I poured them a bit too hot.. need to get a laser thermometer, my hands are always cold, so I don't feel heat very well and suck a judging a temp by feel... along with some first time nervous jitters when pouring them for the first time trying to stay steady like a sniper... edit: also found out my size problem with them froots, it was poor lighting... moving my old seedling light over and now they're getting normal sized and such :P

I wanna know where you read in all your research that putting a dried piece of cap in a jar of liquid anything would produce desired results...

last reply since this is kinda off topic here.... Chances are very minimal, honestly so low that I'll go ahead and say you have a bacteria farm in that jar more than likely. Also, if you were trying to go with a dried out old ass veil then agar would have been your best bet, even then...

oh yeah. so glad for the tek guides that have been made for us... now instead of cakes every few months in a sgfc, there is a piano-shelf loaded with shoeboxes that will never stop rotation...

Not having a top layer doesn't cause or promote side pins. Unfavorable surface conditions are to blame.
You can create good/bad surface conditions with/without a top layer. So it's up to the grower. Gl
well shoot, I guess it's just a lil less hands on and easier to keep a layer at surface condition? I just figured since the layer isn't showing any side pins, while the one without is starting off with them, though I didn't start keeping the surface at a fine misty dew till I sign them popping on the side, and the one with the layer hasn't really needed misting, naturally fine surface look.

they are, though this one without the layer didn't seem to create it's own surface moisture quite like the ones previously or like this one with the layer.. once I noticed side pins on the one without the layer and that there was no light dew on the surface, I gave a light mist and am tryin the keep it there. one with the layer though I seem to be able to just ignore lol edit: though being only my like 6th shoebox, any pins are good pins right now.. just getting picture perfect ones are the current goal, while getting the hand of my agar procedure.

yeah, it's seeming so in my conditions as well. This is actually the first one with a layer I've done, after reading a few people say they got better/ easier results from a layer in their conditions.. Though I mean, like I said, more perfecting it all now.. getting that practice, my current set up isn't huge, but enough to keep it in rotation I think for until... idk.. whenever lol..
