Can you put colonize shroom cake in grow bag?
    #21168062 - 01/23/15 04:59 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Will this pf tek work? here is the link:

http://www.magic-mushrooms-shop.com/en/blog/how-grow-magic-mushrooms-pf-tek-cakes

Can you put a fully collonize cake in a grow bag with filter and just spray water and let it fruit? Here's Another example but a little diffrent they use tupperware to colonize spores and fruit. Here's link :

https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=40988

Am going to try this pf tek from first link.I ordered all the item online and also order b+ spore. Am using 4oz mason jar will they colonize faster? Also one more question once the cake is fully colonize is it safe from contamination once they start fruiting? One more thing to say am a noob at growing shrooms.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks found answer to contamination question.

A fully colonized cake is highly resistant to contamination for at least three flushes.  After that, the mycelium weakens and contamination can naturally set in.  You need to practice sterile technique when inoculating your cakes, but once they're fully colonized, you can handle them with bare hands.  Dunking does not increase the chance of contamination.

They will colonize faster because there's less to colonize. You also shouldn't expect massive yields with the 4 oz jars. Just a suggestion: when all the jars are colonized, crumble the cakes into a tray and mix with a bulk sub. Cover with foil and let colonize completely then Toss that in your SGFC.

Found this on shroomery.
Examples of different types of bulk substrates used for cultivation of Ps. cubensis or Pan. cyanescens may be straw, dung, or coco coir supplemented with additives such as worm castings. Will one of these mix well?

Coco coir, vermiculite, gypsum. (cvg) do a search for that up top in the search bar and you'll find a good thread on it. SGFC is good for cakes/trays and you'll get decent results. If aiming for yield, search"mono tub" or "green house".

Those will work, but find a tek/recipe for a bulk substrate that has worked for others and is something you think you can do. Some people don't have access to h-poo or worm castings readily. The CVG bulk is something that can be found at most garden & pet supply shops. Gypsum was the hardest for me to find for some reason.
