Doesn't peyote grow out there? and san pedro and every other ornamental-mescaline-containing cacti?

Nope, unless they are in someone's yard or inside their house.

Also, you're not likely to find any naturally occurring plants, especially the type you mentioned growing in Arizona,it's too freaking hot!
I used to live in Phoenix, and I know this first hand:sunny:

Peyote occurs only in one state in the US,and that's extreme south Texas.
Trichocereus cacti reside naturally down in Central/South America.

There is a species of Datura that grows in AZ, but you don't want to mess with that.

If you are talking about Southern AZ, you could also look for some B.Alvarius toads to milk during the monsoon season...not a plant obviously, but one of the few known psychoactive animals.

Found this little tid bit, however I know nothing about it myself.

"Carnegiea gigantea, the saguaro (sa-war-o) (Benson 1982). The saguaro or giant cactus is one of the characteristic plants of Arizona and Sonora. It is used by animals for shelter while humans may also use it for building corals and novelty furniture. Even the Indians used this plant for food by gathering the fruit to make conserves and making drinks from the seeds (Benson 1950). While the cactus has been reported to treat rheumatism, it is not known to be used hallucinogenically. Yet, it does contain many psychoactive alkaloids such as: 3-methoxytyramine, 3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine, 3,4 dimethoxy-5-hydroxyphenethylamine, 3,5 dimethoxy-4-hydroxyphenethylamine, Arizonine, Dopamine, Heliamine, Heliamine, dehydro Mescaline, Tyramine, Carnegine, Gigantine (5-hydroxycarnegine), Salsolidine Norcarnegine), Salsolidine, dehydro (Ott 1993)."

Anyone cutting Saguaro's down in habitat should be drawn and quartered, at the very least, in my opinion.

Just order cuttings offline if you want to trip.

My 2 cents....

You can actually get in pretty big trouble for cutting or digging up a saguaro in AZ...

I realize that it's not native, by I know that chacruna can grow outside for a long time. Then when it gets cold, take the pots inside and put them by the window.

Yep. They can handle some pretty cold temperatures, just don't let them freeze.

But you wouldn't wanna let em stay in the cold temps obviously. But in the event
you're not able to move inside, and it happens to be pushing low 40'sF....they'll be just fine for a night.

I've seen other claims of them handling lower temperatures, too.
