Stalled or Aborts?
    #21150914 - 01/20/15 04:19 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Hello,

The mushrooms (B+) stopped growing a week ago and i need your help to decide what to do.

Should i harvest them or do you think they will start to grow again? What can i do to save them?

I fan them 3 times a day.

Thank you all

They won't resume growing after the veil has begun to break.  They look pretty dry.

On second thought, you should PM Pastywhyte and see if he thinks that's verticillium.

Are you keeping the mycelium moist? What are you using as a fruiting chamber? Is that graying fuzzier in person? Possible contamination, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

I think it's moist, there is water/moisture on the bag walls. It's a grow kit, it's inside the bag with filters that came with it.

Yes it's a grow kit, i tried two times to make a monotub but failed and were out of spores to try again, so i ordered the kit so i could get the shrooms without waiting months and get the spores to try to grow again.

Pictures would be nice. How long did you soak the mycelium before fruiting? Are the mushrooms as dry as they look? You really should consider learning the pf tek, and building yourself a shotgun fruiting chamber, as I doubt your bag is providing sufficient fresh air exchange.

People say you can eat the fruits from bacterial infection if you dry them or make tea, but I would just chuck that thing man. Nothing new will grow and it's gross-looking. Sorry, but you might want to try on your own next time, skip the kits.

I've never seen it happen, but I imagine this is what it looks like when your mushrooms suffocate on their own co2, despite the fanning four times daily, simply due to the lack of FAE in the bag. The kits I've seen generally have 1-2 filters near the top of the bag, and co2 is heavier than oxygen, so it descends to the bottom.

The point is it doesn't matter what the molecular weight is.  We don't use a sealed vessel, so there will be no settling.  It all gets mixed up, and the tiny amount of CO2 produced by a cake goes out the holes with the air.

Air is composed mostly of oxygen and nitrogen.  Oxygen is heavier than nitrogen, so why doesn't everyone think the O2 falls out of the N2?

Wrong.  CO2 is not like water which remains separate from air and will drain out the bottom.  The CO2 MIXES WITH THE AIR, thus does not 'leak out the bottom'.

Before you tell us to go to science class(I have two engineering degrees-do you?), you should go back to second grade to learn the difference between a whole and a hole.

Co2 has never, nor will it ever sink to the bottom of a fruiting chamber.
