thick white mycelium (??) growth on BRF cakes

Birthed 7 cakes last Friday. One of them has produced pins, but a few of the others have been growing thick white mycelium, almost spiky looking, over the vermiculite casing. Trying to figure out what this stuff is. Been looking and reading around, I've sprayed peroxide in case it was cobweb, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Maybe they were birthed too early (little less than 4 weeks in incubation)... FAE was kinda an issue until I read up on it and realized I wasn't fanning enough but have since increased. Hope it's not rich... Just wondering of my cakes are okay, any information in regards to the picture is much appreciated.

They are too wet and not getting enough FAE... spraying with peroxide has hurt them too. The good news is they don't really look contaminated.

What sort of fruiting chamber are you using. I recommend you build an SGFC (search it) and put them in there... today if possible.

If you build a SGFC, don't fuck around and cut corners. Do it exactly.

Soaked perlite, elevate the fruiting chamber by cups/bricks, don't pan a fan at the tub, maintain a mist/fan schedule, etc.

I've set up an aquarium humidifier in a tub with a heater at the bottom, it's constatly kept at 75 degrees. There are 4 holes in the tub and considering adding more. The cakes are set on a metal rack wrapped in aluminum foil. I'll look into shutting the humidifier off from time to time as well as fan more. Thanks for the advice guys

The cakes will not succeed in a tub with a humidifier and a heater...

You are destined to failure with your current set up.

Build a SGFC. You are a beginner, don't try to wing it if you want to succeed.

Reminds me of my first attempt at growing mushrooms (more than 10 years ago now... time flies). Had a fish tank with a reptile heater underneath and a humidifier pumping in moisture. No one knew any better back then. But things have changed.

wanna update, things are looking fantastic!! Getting pins all over the cakes now, guess I justbneeded some patience. Only one concern at this point, there is a small dark blue spot on one of the cakes (5:00 position on the cake, first pic)  that just pinned. Advice on what to do?
