I remember when VCRs didn't have remotes.

When my Little pony wasn't a creepy man fetish.

When televisions weren't flat screen; they were furniture, and became the stand for your new TV.

Masterpiece Theatre

Murder She Wrote

When you didn't pay taxes on game show winnings.

When condom machines came out in bathrooms.

Scholastic Book Club / Troll Book Club

R.L. Stein

When Tommy turned from the Green Ranger to the white Ranger and they defeated every creature with the same move every time.

People bootlegging VHS. Or watching a camcorder recording of a VHS since a VCR was more than a handheld camera.

Sticking a little ball of foil into the VHS so you could record over it again.

DDT

When we didn't have the opportunity to snap into a slim jim!

When saying "eat my shorts" was a major censorship issue.

Salute My Shorts / Pete and Pete / Ren and Stimpy

Nick at Night (it was big when it was new)

When aluminum foil was aluminum and you used it for your TV antennas.

When blockbuster was sued over their "be kind, please rewind" fees on DVDs.

Skating Rinks

Drive in Movie Theatres (with the speakers, not your radio).

Quiz: I remember who shot J.R.

^ If someone doesn't know that I don't know what to tell you Shroomery.

Bad memory on that last one, I think it was that bitch thought, to much drug use between then and now.

I always used tape to rerecord over vhs tapes, always some way to work around the system, LOL!

Bottles are expensive outside of Ontario where they are either subsidized or cans are taxed hard. I haven't bought bottled beer in years so I probably won't buy stubbies anyway. And the whole hipsters drinking same beer as their dad thing is gay. I refuse to believe a 20 year old really likes Labatts 50. It's like wearing a mullet when you clearly are doing it for irony and not because you are 49 and like Judas Priest.

10 cents to get in to a movie theater

$50 a month to rent a 1 bedroom in the east village (nyc)
The same apartment goes for $2000 now.

I thought they still made 50.

There's this pub I go to sometimes for music that styles itself as sort of a high class Irish pub, and I used to always order 50 when I went there because it was one of the cheapest beers. Later they took away the chalkboard menu that said which beers they had and how much they were. I asked a bartender for a pint of 50 and he responded with "We don't serve 50" and immediately turned to the next customer, as if the thought that such a high-class establishment would ever serve such a lowly beer was offensive to him.

That's a good way for a bar to go out of business or a bartender to get shitty tips.
