well i took off all the floaters this time just for the hell of it. next time i will try leaving it all.

on a side note though, my brf jars and my agar plates look like they came out pretty nice. pouring agar dishes with one hand is some tricky shit. a suction cup on my nub proved to be pretty effective though. :super:

We are the same. Except I'm in the PNW and used to work at the IGA

Anyone else get the odd objects in their wbs that look like brown thick pieces of snake skin? Shit looks like it has scales. I have wondered what this shit is for years and years.

I leave it, and it gets colonized. I've still always wondered.

well shit... my PC manual recommends 1" of water, and i ran a little over that and still ran dry, or very very close to it at least. i noticed it that it was harder to keep pressure this round and i had to keep bumping the heat up, so i figured it was using a lot of water.. then when i was 80 minutes in i saw the pressure start to drop and the steam slowed down. i shut it off and took it off the burner immediately. i let it depressurize and i see a small puddle left in there.

so the morel of the story is use at least an inch and a half in the 22 quart mirro.

what do i do with these 80 minute cooked wbs jars now? re-pressure cook or toss and start over? i'm not wanting any chance of failure, so should i start them over again?

1) If you let your rocket go nuts the entire cycle it'll lose more steam then if you were to hit the sweet spot where the rocket gently rocks and then shakes and let's off some steam once a minute or so. It shouldn't be shooting off steam the entire time.

2) Maybe the lid wasn't forming a proper seal?

Either of these two issues ring a bell for you?

i was under the impression that you wanted the rocker moving the whole time. i had it turned to the point where it was barely moving the whole time. are you saying that it needs to only rock and let out pressure once a minute?

Well, was it rattling hard the entire time or just gently rocking? You want the weight to gently move back and forth. You don't want it rocking violently the entire PC cycle.

up until near the end it was rattling and if i turned the heat down at all it would stop moving and then rattle like 15 seconds later, then stop, etc... toward the end though i had my stove on high and the weight was just slowly rocking. i normally can't get it to do that.

If you run your PC correctly it won't run dry unless there is a structural issue with your PC itself. You had enough water to last you a cycle.
