I use jar rings to boost my canning rack.
If you lack a canning rack then you can flatten about 5 layers of aluminum foil and use that as a makeshift rack. Make sure the plates are level when they're cooling or you'll have pasty slants.

Does anyone know how fast it takes for a grain jar to completely colonize when using a colonized agar wedge? Vs. injecting spores directly in the grain jar?

Depends on your strain and temps 1-2 weeks, about the same as a G2G if you shake it well enough.

Since it can vary by as much as 2 weeks depending on tons of different conditions or variables, hell no.
Just kidding, it takes one week, 3 days, and 6 hours.

I was going to try it with PE since I heard they take longer to colonize. I haven't read very much on G2G.
Also, can you use Pan Cyans/Cambos with agar?

You can use anything with agar...
Go for it, just be patient.

I know this isn't groundbreaking or anything and may have already been mentioned in the last 100 pages but...
Usually I've been washing these out the old fashioned way with soap and water and then to the dishwasher.
Turns out a few swipes with a 70% iso paper-towel works just as well.

I wipe it with tap water on a paper towel just to get the extra agar out and make sure the bottom is completely clean.
Haven't noticed any increase in contams. Cut the dishwasher out completely, my girl hates it

I fucking HATE my dishwasher. Insert clean dishes, and it gives you dishes covered in a bunch of soap spots with fucking grey water in some of the cups that have been flipped and just, fuck, FUCK. FUCK THE DISHWASHER!

Stop buying the cheap brand of dishwasher soap. Buy cascade. Never leaves smudges.

I think it has a lot more to do with it being a shitty dishwasher. The spots aren't the main issue, and those are probably actually just from hard water.

I don't even use iso, a tiger drop into the trash and a damp paper towel to get any residue off. Done.

Yeah, completely forgot to chime in on that, I do the same, except I tiger drop them outside in a bush, before hitting em with the moist paper towel.

I've been running my mini rounds through the dishwasher because it makes the lids easier to remove. As for the hard water thing, it's all about a good detergent. My jars come out of the PC covered in shit that I regularly have to scrub off, but they come out spotless from the dishwasher. Even the city water here is really hard.
