Soaking cakes.
    #21134973 - 01/17/15 06:21 PM (9 years, 3 months ago)

So i haven't been on in a long time .. no internet where i have been staying sadly .. but something i thought of .. if i have 65 wbs colonized jars .. Since you have to break up the spawn to get it out .. can you fill the jars with water for the soaking period or maybe put all the broken up spawn and soak it in a big pot ? Instead of cracking open ALL THE JARS Which is alot of wasted money for new jars .. Any ideas , suggestions?

Just bang the jars on a bike tire, the grains will all break apart. You can "dunk" the shaken grain spawn for 10 min to rehydrate before spawning or just simply spawn to bulk. No need to crack good jars open.

Iv always heard like 10 hours of soaking but that's a great idea to break em open and just soak the soak the grain and yeah that's a lot of jars to be wasted thank you.

You dunk cakes for 24 hours. For a grain dunk outlined here, 10 min is sufficent. Cakes need a prolonged dunk to force the water into the cake, where grains are just being simply hydrated a little and the smaller size of the individual grains means this is quickly and easy to do.

OP you need to decide what you are going to do here. WBS jars are not cakes, and need to be spawned to bulk, or at least put into a tray and cased. Bulk will deliver better results tho.

Thank you for the preference .. Okay that's perfect then I'll spawn to bulk with a 10 minute soak . I'll use the handy bucket Tek . My favorite (:

You were planning on breaking all of your jars?

Why don't you just unscrew the lids?
