Oops sorry I was half asleep when I wrote that. My point was you use the same amount of powder as you would agar from bars.

Right, I made the mistake the first time of following the heaping spoonfuls method instead of measuring out my powder and I ended up making way more than I meant to. 2.5 grams to a half cup, or 5 grams every cup. Doubling the recipe is a good idea if you have enough plates and space.

I usually make 500ml or 1 litre per batch. Once you really get into agar. Plates go fast.

Hahaa sorry not trying to be negative. Have never used agar, wasn't sure if it melts and can ruin a pot. I don't wanna hear it from the woman. I read the tek afew times and was just unsure. Thought if I'd ask, someone would just nicely help me learn no matter how dumb my problems may be.

It's a liquid when it's warm, and a solid when it's cool, but the solid form pretty much slides right off of any surface. The potato flakes are more of a pain to get off the pot than the agar, and even then, not as bad as if you had made mashed potatoes in there.

Thanks. Didn't realize it was an actual food. Makes since that it wouldn't fuck up the pot. I'll make up for the shitty questions with porn soon. bought these. 1.50 a piece.

That's what I've been using, they're pretty good, and real cheap.

It's okay for the mini rounds to be in the water some? The whole thing is wrapped in foil. There is the canning rack in it.

I use and old pie tin with some holes drilled in it to keep my pasty plates above the water. I put it upside down on the bottom of my PC. Then I put the caning rack on top of it.

Well if I fucked these up I'll know tomorrow. And I'll do it again. Pressure just dropped to zero. 3 were above water.

They're fine in the water as long as they're not floating around and getting wet agar all over the sides.

This happened to me.
Filled it up with water and PCed, let it cool in the PC, came back to open it and the fucking agar solidified on the side.

Yah they can be in the water. Keeping them elevated just gives me piece of mind.

Not a bad idea, for sure, I may give it a whirl. I have some other stuff I can use to elevate them though.

This kind of breaks past the "Easy Agar" setting but I've read you talking about re-vitalizing a second-flush pin's myc. I'm just doing it for fun really, not to actually fruit it. Right now it's on your formula agar.
Would I want to transfer to less nutrients or more?

You would transfer to less nutes then once more to a standard level of nutes.

So I transferred an AA clone from regular agar to a plate with some antibiotic. (didn't measure the exact amount, just kinda eyeballed 10mg or so per 8 plates.)
I had bacteria on the original plate so I transferred it to one of the AB plates, and I guess I'm wondering if I need to be on the lookout for anything in particular, or if there's a reason people go straight to the agar sandwich tek when they're having bacteria troubles.
As long as I can see healthy growth and I can transfer it to a non-AB agar plate and still see that it's healthy, no worries right?

Just ensure you let it grow out a bit to ensure there is no bacteria riding along. Transfer from the leading edge and if the receiving plate looks clean you would be good to go.

Well, the fuzzies are touching down now and I expect it'll start crawling soon, but I'm not even certain I transferred any of the bacteria to the new plate. I may have actually just successfully transferred away from it by slicing the top of the inoculant material off of the first plate, rather than taking a wedge. I guess we'll see. I would like a clone that performs well, and I get the strong impression that this one would, based on the results of the tub it came from.
