Yeah, it will definitely work. Just not my preferred method. I grow shitloads of pasty plates, so I never have a shortage of cultures to drop.
So, say I have 8 PE6 plates. I will find the best looking plate, take 3-4 transfers from that culture, then drop it and the other 7 plates.

This is basically the worst set of videos ever made.
By which I mean it's so bad-ass I added it to my signature.

And added it to my tek page too. Quoted this page directly since the centering was so ideal.

______Easy Liquid Inoculant w/o a Blender!______
FYI: the expansion jar used in the video is a pint. This is about as large as you want to go with this technique. You might want to experiment with lower amounts of water in the jar for a more concentrated solution depending on how much culture you were able to extract from your plate. The idea is to pressure wash the culture off the agar using your syringe. So make sure you depress firmly to get a solid stream of water. had to zoom and pan around a little to keep my eyes out of the frame, but overall I really liked working with this camera angle! I might end up reshooting the entire series from this side if you guys agree. Also, there are roofers working on my place, so that is what all the banging is in the background!

Thanks guys! The torch I use was a $45 "stök" brand butane torch which you can find at head shops. You can also find smaller butane torches at hardware stores. The jar of water I used is about 1 pint.

Whoa, that's pricey. Do those work any better than, for instance, the Bonjour culinary torch I'm using? Clearly the flame itself is pencil thin which is surely what you want for dabs though, so I guess that accounts for the price.
My culinary torch has a fatter jet of flame which I presume probably heats things more slowly, albeit perhaps more evenly.
I couldn't tell if you sped up the torch part in the vid or not, if you really get it red hot that fast, holy shit.

yeah, its sped up during that.
probably not. its just some cheap chinese shit with a different label on it. the best dab torches are Blazers: http://blazerproducts.com/index.php/the-big-shot-industrial-torch.html
I don't feel like mine is pencil thin, even probably a bit on the fat side. of course, the flame doesn't show much very well.

Blazers are worth the money. Click one on for a second and you will immediately see why.

Oh! Your torch is the same size and shape and as mine. Probably works more or less the same. I didn't see much in the video, that's a much better view.
