Thick sediment in Liquid Culture?

So I have made a liquid culture and there have been small strands of mycelium forming. Well there is a layer of sediment. (I think) on the bottom of the jar. It was a honey LC. I shook the jar until all the sediment broke up. Also the sediment was sticking together. Any ideas? thanks guys

How long did you sterilize it for?
It sounds like you might have caramelized your solution.

I sterilized it for 30 minutes. Steam sterilized. I sadly do not have a pressure cooker. Is there anyway to prevent carmelization. It's growing really slow sadly. My jar I inoculated with straight spores is growing faster than the LC.

Is that long enough for an LC? Where did you read those numbers? Seems short for steam sterilization but I'm not extremely familiar with the process since I have a PC.

Yeah for _OttO_'s LC tek it's 30 min sterilizing the jar, cap and water, then add honey close up jar, cover it with foil and steralize again for 30 mins. There might be mycelium growing in the sediment holding it together because it took a lot to shake it apart. I'm actually kinda wondering if most of the sediment is mycelium mix. Because after I shook it up it looks like something is holding it all together again at the top just floating.

Well I hope not contamination. In a few days I'm gonna try and knock up a jar to test it out. Lets hope for the best

I don't know if we can hope for the best. I'm not a fan of facing disappointment without bracing for it beforehand, and, well, we've all seen enough things here to get an idea of where this is headed.

I saw that tech. I did not look into it much because I saw no PC.

I knocked up a test jar last night and so far it's looking pretty good. Small white Mycelium dots. Hope it stays that way
