Looking for good humidifying options that are not super pricey.

I was looking at the price of everything and it's a little too pricey. Other than that I'm not an electrician, looks like I have to do something with the squirrel cage fan.

I am not motivated enough to post pictures right now, but I made a bucket-style humidifier that can crank out some serious fog, and it was very simple. You can buy single-disc foggers straight from China for under $10 each on eBay, you just have to wait for them to ship (buy a couple). I made ghetto floats from small PP5 containers I'm not using, and I bought a foam pool noodle for $1, cut it into short sections that wrap around the PP5 to make a float; drill some holes in it and it will maintain your desired water height. I took a sturdy plastic tote and cut two 4" holes on top; into one goes your air source - a computer fan, duct fan, whatever. You can get these used if you are resourceful and talk to HVAC people. Out of the other hole goes a plastic duct tube like you would use for a dryer outlet or a rain spout (you can use PVC too, but I prefer something light and flexible). Put it all on a timer and you're good to go. Depending what you have lying around, you're still probably in for at least $50 or $60, but you will never struggle with humidity again! And mine uses a 23 gallon tote, so I can fill it and forget it for around a week! When i was using portable ultrasonics, I had to remember to refill it every 12-18 hours.... lame.

Foggers: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ultrasonic-Mist-Maker-Fogger-Water-Fountain-Pond-Atomizer-Air-Humidifier/141529733636?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D6d41e738a99148229bf5195b02fcb64c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D221514512804&rt=nc

I hope this is helpful. And before I put it all together, I was just floating a fogger in a 5 gallon bucket with a fan blowing across the surface; you could also float it on an open tote to have a bigger water reservoir. Super easy and more fog than you need.

lol, sure a nice steamy hot tub in the center of the grow room would kick the humidity up a notch! Hell, the heat from it may even help regulate the grow room temps in the winter... But the bacteria load... oh man..

that's the idea with the vapormist or whatever the vick's humidifiers are called.  they have an ultrasonic disc that's heavy duty and gets f'in hot!  got my grow hut up to 100F in may a couple years ago.

The thread may now be derailed with me uploading that hot tub picture.  :rofldrunk:

Yeah, but then you can't enjoy the hot tub with your lady friends without taking a trip to the ER with chemical burns on your junk.

How is the seal on the lid of the tote?

The tote I am using gets a very good seal. I am attaching some pics of my set up. It's in a transition phase right now - I got a bigger blower so I can filter the air going into it; the duct fan I was using can't handle much in terms of static pressure.
Bear in mind that this is simply an unrefined version of what other people have already done, and better. Woodland Jewel, who just posted on the parallel thread about humidification, has an awesome and much more elegant set up, but this is an easy and relatively cheap way to get a bulk humidifier set up started; you can refine and upgrade from there based on your interest, needs, and resourcefulness. And as I said here or elsewhere, the most basic version is to put a fogger or foggers in an open bucket or tote and blow air across it in your grow space. At one point I took the top off of a coolmist and rested it on top of my open fogger bucket to blow the mist straight up - worked pretty well.
My home made floats (pool noodle, PP5 with holes, duct tape) have served me surprisingly well, even though they are kind of ghetto looking.

That looks nice, thanks for the pictures, I guess I'm most worried about the electrical part of this thing.
