I think thats a mirror of http://mckenna.psychedelic-library.org/

I drive all over california searching for waves, mckenna's sound files have kept me company between tijuana and san francisco for countless hours.  Those lectures are fascinating, engaging, and damn entertaining.  I've listened to almost all of them though :frown:

this stuff is good to just sit back, listen, and wonder a bit

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

yeah.

Although I feel that Mckenna was completely insane, he undoubtedly knew how to make people think; how to dissolve the boundaries in the minds of others.

I think that was his main goal; boundary dissolution. Well Terence.. for me, your mission was successful

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

You're goddamn right he was completely insane! I love him for it, though. His lectures are extremely stimulating, his voice puts me into a trance sometimes...

Yeah he was very intelligent also.

Some of his theories are pretty weird but his messages as a whole are not that insane.

Most of them are fascinating.

Terence used the most obscure colloquial expressions too, those were priceless.  I can't think of any right now (marijuana affects the memory  ) but i'll post em up when they come to me.

I like his story about how one time he was tripping and he had one of those epiphanies where you feel like you've summed it all up in one eloquent phrase, and he actually managed to remember what it was after he was sober. I think it was something like, "A SONG IS A SONG."

Haha, nonsensical trip epiphanies rule.

I remember that too.  I come up with those a lot on drugs, the funniest being after my friend failed to manage to light the lighter and hit the bowl.  I said

"Dude, if you're too stoned to smoke, you're too stoned to smoke!"

That phrase has become a stable in our stoney jokes now.  Another one I came up with was

"You can never be too stoned, unless you're too stoned."  That one's a little less clear but it makes sense to me

yes mckenna was insane, but not completely. i have found from listening to his lectures that often times when he sounded most insane he simply just wasnt explaining himself well. this is most evident in his writing. in his essays some of the concepts that seem most far fetched become far more believeable when you listen to him fully elaborate on them in his lectures.

for you Mckenna philes. i have listened to quite alot of these sound files and some are far better than others. if you have some time on your hands i highly recommend the Tree of Knowledge series

*light bulb goes off in my head*

thanks for allowing me to view that statement in a different light!
(which was probably the meaning it was to be taken as originally.)

The way you explained it though helped me make the connection. Thanks again!

Yeah, Mckenna was hip to creation being a sound. When the elves sung those "orbs" into existence, that summed up creation. One big vibe. Has any one ever heard of String Theory or Membrane Theory. Basicaly, now they think that subatomic particles like quarks are vibrating "strings" of energy. That would mean matter is just a vibe. later.

that is why it sucks living at USC, los angeles. too many strait lines, not enough waves. Thats probably why I'm basically addicted to surfing, its my daily dose of chaos, waves, dynamism, etc.

Yeah McKenna's theories where anything BUT close to orthodox beliefs but what i liked was that he always reminded people that his theories where nothing but his current position on a certain subject. He never forced anyone to belive what he thought about anything. He just liked to make people think.
