I've read before that Lion's Mane grows fairly well on fruit tree wood, but haven't ever tried it yet. What I read said the wood was denser than most mushrooms tend to like, but since I can't really remember where I read it, it could be true or not. What do you have to try inoculating the wood? Might as well give it a try if you have enough spawn to spare.

Well, I have many options: I have these species Pleurotus Djamor,Pleurotus eryngii,Pleurotus Citrinopelatus,Ganoderma Lucidum,Lentinula Edodes
I could make some dowels of the gar rob tree, or fig tree and inoculate them with grain or liquid inoculation, we are currently investigating to make a comercial mushroom farm. SPAWN is not a problem.
we are trying just for the fun with some pine sawdust with in theory shouldn't work and the shitake has colonised it, however that doesn't mean it could fruit right?

Shiitake is doing great for me on sawdust blocks made of 1/2 pine, 1/2 hardwood, with a handful of pine wood chips. I haven't fruited yet, theyre still about a month away. I also had good luck with Ganoderma species on 1/2 pine 1/2 hardwood. I got the hardwood sawdust from a furniture maker (untreated, kiln-dried, mostly oak and alder). Haven't tried any other species on the mix but I plan to when I get back from vacation.
I'm curious to see how fruit wood works. I have an almost unlimited supply of apple, pear, peach, and apricot tree prunings, which I could chip and make blocks out of. I'd love to learn if anyone has tried it and reported here.
