I have 4 classes this semester and the total book cost is almost $700 from the campus store. And some of the books are even more expensive on amazon. Can't get used books with most of them because they come with software. Anybody have a line on a website where you can get cheaper text books?

You can find some of them on torrent websites but they are usually an edition or 2 behind good luck it's not fair what they charge for those books!

Ask you professors if they use the software for the books, and if they assign problems from the books. If the book is just for reading then you can torrent an older edition without any problems. If you need a special access code or something then you're basically screwed. I ended up paying about $500 for a really shitty Ochem book and I'm still super bitter about it. I torrented a better one just so I had something worthwhile to read.

My campus library offers students opportunity to borrow their text book overnight after 2:00 PM , you could also rent the book for a few hours if you needed to just read a chapter.
I downloaded a few books through pdf file and ebook , sometimes they have what your looking for

This is so true I feel like college is just such a big scam... I have spent so much money on all the classes, books, and access codes but I have learned far more from independent reading and research online. Unfortunately though it's tough to get where I'd like to be without a degree so I'll have to bite the bullet and deal with the bullshit

i never used to buy textbooks in college. its a scam
i used to go to classes first and figure out if i even actually need the book cuz a lot of the time u didnt. give it a few weeks, unless u dont mind wasting money
if i found out i needed the book, i just stole it from the bookstore usually. like im already paying all this money and ur telling me i have to pay for my fuckin books too? fuck that. i stole em and sold em back at the end of the semester for like 10$ a book
only time i ever bought books was my first college semester and after that i realized how fuckin stupid it was
you can borrow books from classmates too and put photocopy the pages you need too
