I'm a newbie with this type of experiment, but couldn't you fruit them indoors, if it came to it?

nice mycomattie! since your fruiting indoors are you timing it to when the temps drop? ive seen some great indoor tub grows with azures and woodlovers on a shelf inside a garage. once the temps dropped the fruits exploded. good luck!

Thanks man! No, I'm not fruiting indoors, just trying to accumulate some spawn for an outdoor bed.......but I have a garage and at this point, enough spawn to ATTEMPT fruiting indoors.
I literally have 65 inches of snow on the ground, so an outdoor bed seems a long way off at this point.

Added another Alder bag to the Psi azurescens tote. It's getting heavy, but I still have't broken it up - the mycelium looks healthy and smells great.

I'm loving this thread, mycomattie! Are you pasteurizing your wood chips, and cardboard before adding to the spawn pile? How are you hydrating them?
Looks like you're about two months ahead of me with your project! I've got a few jars of rye/oak fully colonized now. Any thoughts on how you're going to construct your bed?

Thanks man - I haven't pasteurized anything; I pour boiling water over the wood chips and let soak for -24 hours, then rinse a few times with cold water, then spawn. Super easy prep.
As for the bed design, still kinda researching. How do you plan on doing it?

I'm going to experiment with a few different things. I'm planting rhododendron bushes on both edges of the patch. Also going to box in the patch with wooden dividers. I've seen images that suggest the wooden edges might help in triggering pins.
Sort of shooting from the hip with these ideas, though. Still unsure what to do regarding a casing layer.

Holy shit that's awesome! I hope that it won't be too late to try something like this with my allenii. Right now I'm still waiting for them to germinate.
