First attempt with birdseed - are my jars too full?
    #2111377 - 11/16/03 02:07 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Hello!  I have some experience growing with BRF cakes and really basic casing... I am attempting to grow up some birdseed substrate, and it's my first time!  So, understandably I hope, I am having a few worries about the process... I have soaked the birdseed 24 hours, now it is in 0.75L mason jars with an alum foil / vermiculite seal at the top... I am worried that I have added too much seed/water however, so if someone with more experience could possibly look at the picture of my jars from the side and let me know if that's way too much?  Because I looked in other FAQs just now and was worried when i saw 100g and half-filled jars.... *sigh* just don't want to have to redo all this, just blew a couple hours draining the seeds and making those seals!  lol

Cheers for any help!

coffee filters and tyvek work better than the vermiculite seals...and the jars look fine to me, just as long as there is neough space for you to shake them is all that really matters.
