Are you an American? What aspects of your country are you unhappy with?
    #21094635 - 01/09/15 09:53 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Hello.  I am thinking of creating a political party for the American people and I want to hear the thoughts, complaints, what-have-you, from the people.  Maybe this forum isn't representative of the whole population ( you guys tend to be smarter and more educated), but I think it's a good start.  So, tell me!  Spill your guts!  Tell me all!  Don't hold back.  I want to hear what's troubling you and see if I can't come up with some sort of solutions.

Sorry in advance to the non-American people.  Maybe if this thread goes well, I will create a 2nd thread dedicated to troubles from the rest of the world.

Now go!

I daresay the indoctrination you have received contains far more mindless drivel than that of the vast majority of the population of the United States.

Best solution is a long tour abroad for a hard dose of reality with a seasoned traveler, enabling the knowledge of what the individual has always been extremely privileged to have, and grossly taken for granted.

I don't like the way the media is apparently controlled by a certain agenda and always supports those who the big money men like. We don't get any real choices at the polls, just sell outs. Anyone who is not a sell out does not get a shot at a nomination. So, a new party is a good idea or simply support the alternative parties already in existence like green or libertarian.

I also don't like legal bribery that we have. Virtually unlimited cash is pumped into campaigns supporting (surprise surprise) mostly the sell outs. Cash talks and those on a limited budget get beaten almost every time. Then when they are in power they take more bribes to permit those poisons cgl spoke of into our food and water. They permit frankenstien food on the market which most of the rest of the world wisely rejects.

You seem to be under the severe delusion that much of the American people agrees with you.  They do not.  They think you are nuts.  That is why you and your ilk are ignored at the polls

Unlimited cash to campaigns is not allowed.

>You seem to be under the severe delusion that much of the American people agrees with you.

I never implied that, another of your falsifications.

>That is why you and your ilk are ignored at the polls

Reasonable candidates aren't allowed on the ballot by a variety of tricks, not the least of which is the media torpedoing them. You as a supporter of the duopoly are responsible for much of our ills.

>Unlimited cash to campaigns is not allowed.

I never said it was, I said "virtually" unlimited. Outside interests can spend as much as they like advertising for a candidate. Even your favorite people can do it, arabs in other countries like Saudi Arabia can influence the elections.

>Yes money talks.

It tips elections most of the time.

>This is why we have mass dieoffs.:flowstone:

You may be right. Eat hearty, obumble says its safe.

We don't have an autobahn , that's something thats what really pisses me off about this county .  I'd spend more money In other states if I could drive there faster.  Spend more money on gas too . And tires .  This could boost the economy .

Our governor, Scott, was wise enough to turn down the shady 2.6 billion federal stimulus package for it, unlike Commiefornia,

Quote:

...an almost $10 billion bond act to fund the project. But that bond, plus about $3 billion in federal funds, still leaves the project about $55 billion short of the cost to get the line up and running by 2030...the project could end up costing Californians $300 billion...At the groundbreaking, even Gov. Brown admitted he had “some doubts about this project,” and wondered “where the hell are we going to get the rest of the money?”...

and we should soon have a private passenger line, complete with premium amenities (reserved seating, gourmet meals, Wi-Fi, and high tech baggage compartments for ease), which will transport all from Central to South Florida in less than three hours.  It is to create approximately 10,000 jobs to construct it, 1000+ permanent jobs to maintain it, and is to cost less than 700 million to build.  That is how it is done, privately owned and operated, the American way.

I'm not against that.  Nor am I against Government funded transportation when private companies don't step up to the plate.

Your governor is spending money that is not his, and does not even know where he will find the funds to finish the project...typical Democrat.  Soon, Commiefornians will have an even tighter rope around their necks, trying to keep from going bust...

No he's spending money that's MINE, on a project I voted for.  That's how a democracy works.  And by the way, California currently has a $4 billion budget surplus.

If I could have voted against the Iraq war, I would have.  That $2 trillion we spent for nothing (except maybe giving oil companies control of more oil) could have connected every major city in the US with high speed rail.  Instead, we got bombs that blew up, and lots of foreigners angry with America.  Yay.

What a wonderful Disneyland ride.

By the way, I wouldn't be so sure about that.  It won't be the first Governor Moonbeam dream to die.

Rail right now is a boondoggle. They spend billions on gee whiz stuff that people don't use or don't use in enough numbers to make it economically sensible. What does work is expanding bus service. But that isn't sexy so they cut back on buses and spend billions on pipe dreams.

I guess you're not familiar with the New York City Subway?  Or the Washington Metro?  Or the Chicago "L"?  Or the San Francisco Bay Areas B.A.R.T. System?  Or...

i'm all for improved infrastructure. But from what I understand the high speed rail is destined to be pretty shitty and overly expensive for what it is. I think California should pursue Elon Musks Hyperloop!

Yeah, those other rail projects were done at a time when labor was cheaper and there wasn't such a problem with grabbing the land to do it on. Now days its x number of million dollars per mile and it just does not make sense.

Bus is much more efficient and flexible. Try changing a rail route after its built. With a bus, you just give the driver the new route and put up some signs. Next they will want mag lev since its even sexier than regular high speed rail.

Maybe bring back the stage coach but with rockets instead of horses?
