Just checked out all the vids, thanks for those, seeing it in motion really helps alot. it will help to clear up all the doubt I'll have regarding procedures and technique, the same doubt I have every time I do something invasive in the SAB lol

What the heck is this? This was a transfer from a clone and long after it had colonized the whole plate, it started showing these dots? Mold?

I hate my phone for zooming in on this stuff. Sorry for the blur.

That looks like when I get bruising on a plate. How old is it? You said this showed up 'long after' it had colonized.

Could be drying out.

I first made the transfer on 12/20, so about 3 weeks old. The little dots hadn't moved or spread or grown in the past week since I'd noticed it so I doubt it's actually mold since mold and bacteria grow pretty fast, right?

How does myc like that become bruised without a contaminant falling onto it? I haven't touched it or even opened it since I inoculated.

Bruising isn't only caused by touching. Like I said, it could be drying out.

Oh, I must've missed that when I first read it. Right on. Thanks. Interesting little formation. I tossed it, not wanting to risk a contamination.

Not sure what's NOT to like about them? Pouring is just as easy as normal plates and I blew through a 100 pack of those and now am working on a 500 of tri. I can take three different samples and label them and use that instead of three petris. It's great for limited MS grows.

I did A2G twice just to see if I could do it and man, it's sooo slow compared to LI. I'm glad I started with LI's instead of agar chunks.

I dropped a wedge in some grains about......... 10 days ago.

It's got a small chunk colonized. I look over at Eat's fuckin' slurry thread and homeboy is boasting 6 day full colonization speeds.

Tf am I doing?

A2G can be fast if you know how. Cut a big wedge to a pint of millet or WBS. Shake well, this allows for lots of spots for the myc to rub off onto the grain. In 4-5 days it should be at least 30-40% colonized. Shake it and its done 3 days later. G2G that pint to 6 quarts and then a week or two later its ready to spawn. Not quite as fast as LI but safer if your not confident with your sterile tek.

Also G2G might seem slow off the bat but if you have the time it can be expanded exponentially.

1 quart to 10
10 to 100
100 to 1000
1000 to 10000

If it takes a week for each G2G expansion and two to start the inital master thats 10000 quarts in 5 weeks. You would need a lot tubs to warrant that much spawn.

I must have been doing it wrong. For me A2G took longer than spores. By the time my A2G jars were colonised I had lost interest in the grow and started something else.
