I may have been scammed 80$ and a pair o shoes

So, funny story. I got a free pair of Nikes awhile back, I hate shoes like that and have never worn them. Anyways I put em on Craigslist to try and sell for some $$ a couple days later I get a text from some Ohio number, wanting to buy the shoes for my asking price.
So after talking for a bit he says he is buying said shoes for someone in Africa. I was somewhat skeptical for sure but I wanted the shoes gone and the 200$ I was asking for them.
So I go to my local USPS and get the shoes packed up and on the way to africa and go home to send a second Paypal money request, the first was 10$ less than what he ended up needing to pay (the shipping was an xtra 9$) So I go home and send the second request.
After skeptically waiting around for a bit I get a message from him saying he paid, and 4 emails from paypal saying he paid, but that I need to confirm the shipping for the money to go through. They ask for a scanned receipt but I do not have it so I sent them the USPS CW number which is like international tracking I guess.
It has been almost 24 hours and I have not heard back from them. If I don't hear from them in the next 3 hours I was probably scammed It's funny because the USPS guy there warned me it was potentially a scam but I took the risk anyways. I don't care to much I just thought it was a funny story worth sharing. The shoes were free and probably not worth 200$ anyways so I am down 80$ I could use that money but whatever, I will see how it works out.
One other weird thing about this whole transaction is that even after I got emails saying they paid on my paypal the transaction still says "hasn't paid yet" which I feel like should be "waiting for confirmation" or something. I am interested to see if I hear back from paypal or not, and if they will respond when I Ask them whatsup with the money. I have had great luck on Craigslist lately so that is part of why I don't care much, I got a vintage 1973 Hammond organ in need of some repair for 80$ and a vintage 1985 Roland polyphonic analog synthesizer for 325$ so I will just add the 80$ to those great deals and I still come out ahead

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Yeah, you gotta watch out for that sort of thing. When I was trying to sell my S2 some lady emailed me saying she is buying it for her daughter in Africa and it was 'urgent.' She wanted my bank info to transfer the cash but she was international. It would have taken a few days to go through and that's where the scam was - trusting they put the cash in and then sending it out before I got the funds. Which is what she wanted. She didn't get it of course. It sucks that you got hit for a bit of cash but atleast you have a good attitude about it.

Well I am still waiting to here from paypal I am not positive if I was scammed or not yet. At least until I hear back from them. I literally never ship anything so I have not heard anything about not shipping internationally. See if it was a bank transfer I would be much more worried, definitely wouldn't have done that. Paypal though I figured was more reliable, though of course after going through it all I realized I should have just made them pay me first to be sure it was early in the morning though and I was out of it.

I always wondered if people were really dumb enough to fall for the "second items/money to Africa scam."

No no no, someone from Ohio wanted to buy them for someone in Africa The only cash I payed was for the shipping, though now they are trying to get more from me I already am working on filing a claim/ contacting paypal about it. I don't care about the shoes at all really, the money I will miss but also don't care for much.
I am tempted to take legal action depending on how this plays out. Some blatant scam stuff, now they are claiming paypal took an extra 250$ from them and I need to bank transfer it to them to get my money I believe they are even using a fake paypal email to make it more convincing. I have been getting messages from service@paypal about the situation and they are pretty suspicious.
Here is a message I got a little bit ago:
"We want you to know that we are deeply regret for the problem occur for over-deduction of the sum $250.00 USD from Mr McLauren Ryan account's balance to your account ,We have decided that since this fund has been approved and cleared by our account department there is no way we can reverse it than to credit your account with the total sum of $530.00 USD.But before we can proceed with transfer of the fund to your account, We want you to send the over deduction of the sum of 250.00 USD back to the buyer brother's address provided.
Please proceed with the sending of the over deduction through western union money transfer and send us the scanned copy of the western union money transfer receipt for verification and as soon as it is verified, we shall credit your account with the total sum of $530.00 USD without delay. And to let you know that we truly regret this missed up, the management of PayPal has decided to give all the people affected with this missed up the sum of $100.00 USD as compensation. We are only doing this in other to let you know that we truly accept this missed up as totally our fault and to also encourage you to continue to use PayPal."
I then replied saying I am not comfortable doing that bla bla bla and got this message:
"Hello sunset shalom,
YOU ARE 100% PROTECTED.This is to Notify you about the Payment that has been made by McLauren Ryan to your PayPal account. The payment has successfully made but due to security Paypal reasons we have to receive the Western Union Details of the over deducted amount before your PayPal account can be fully credited."
Along with a standard pay pal looking message except all the pictures and stuff were all missing. Seems suspicious to me I am going to wait until paypal gets back to me about this. And not service@paypal seems shady

Sounds like the paypal confirmation of payment was fraudulent. Apparently, you can ghost any email you want using websites which is why you have to be very attentive to ensure the message looks authentic.
And.

Yeah I know that now, I definitely will be paying more attention to that in the future. Also, I can one up the shoes to Africa, my friends mom MARRIED a guy from africa THAT SHE MET ON FACEBOOK so he could get his card and come to America, after which he basically just ditched her. They are still married though And I definitely wont be getting the money, I will howver be placing a fraudulent claim and hopefully get an investigation started on them

Yea. There are several grammar and spelling errors in the messages you received. There is no way that came from paypal. It reads like a foreigner wrote it. Getting 4 confirmation messages of payment should have been a red flag. No legitimate business sends more than one confirmation.

Well the thing is the first couple messages looked almost exactly the same, it wasn't until today that the messages started really looking suspicious. I was pretty skeptical the whole time, I just thought it was funny enough to share. I am considering trying to cancel the shipment but I am not sure if its possible or worth it anyways. Part of the reason I stupidly went through with this is because I was trying to get rid of those shoes, I was very out of it as well or maybe I would have thought it through more.

They have a couple random ones they use, that's why it took me a minute to realize services@paypal was shady. Once the messages started getting retarded it was obvious though

I just checked in my inbox and it's paypal@e.paypal.ca
I'm not sure if it would be the simple difference of a .com for Americans.
