"desiccant Chamber"

After searching through 10+ year old threads, I still have not found an answer so I'll just ask you guys.
Is this "desiccant chamber" airtight enough? The drierite is turning pink very fast so I'd assume not but it has every principle of a desiccant chamber.

There is desiccant on paper towels on chicken wire, then shrooms on paper towels on chicken wire above desiccant. Then there's the stick wrap. Is this airtight enough do you think? The shrooms aren't drying and are even turning bluish.

You need to fan dry the mushroom for a couple days first at least. There's way too moisture to just desiccant dry them fresh.
As for your container I don't know. Try putting some dried desiccant without the mushroom and see if turns pink then.

I only used desiccant once & if I recall it took about 3 days to dry them.
If you can get to a food dehydrator that would be optimal.

Is drying them fresh with desiccant impossible? I know you're telling me what I need to do, but I'm just clarifying.
also about the dehydrator, I have one but it dries at about 160F with heat, and has shown to completely wipe out the potency. Tested first hand. My entire 1st flush is down the drain because of that.

Not impossible but you'd need a hell of a lot of desiccant and it would be much slower.
Dehydrators should be adjustable but even 160F shouldn't be enough to ruin the potency. Are you sure they were completely cracker dry? Like you could easily crumble them dust? Even a little moisture left in the center can seriously throw off the dry weight so they will seem less potent if your dosing by dry weight. I mean I've seen mushroom that are dry but not cracker dry lose another 80% of their weight when dried completely.

That could be the case...I'll throw everything i have in the dehydrator over night, it can't hurt.
However my dehydrator is cheap and it turns right on when you plug it in. I read somewhere that the active degrades at 162.5F, so I lost faith when I measured mine out to be 160F.

hey whats up. Im new so take my advice with a grain of salt.
I have a 10in bowl thats 5-6inches high. I use 2 "spatter guard" screens. They are used for cooking to protect your hands and face . I cut them out so I have 2 10inch pieces of screen. You can use window screen or anything around the house. It has to be small enough holes so the damp rid (little crystals) dosn't go threw it. Dont inhale damp rid and wipe off if it touches your fruits
From the bottom up:
-inch of space (bottom for water to drain to) -screen with damp rid or any other desiccant -another inch space -screen with fruits on it (top) -lid (airtight)
**HERE**
1-2DAYS FAN DRY 1-2IN CHAMBER

Hm very concise explanation and picture. So your lid came with the bowl and is therefore airtight completely? That's practically exactly the method I used except there is no lid so I used serran wrap.
Though I'm afraid it did not work seeing as how 20 hours later the shrooms were still wet and the indicating desiccant was pink.

That's an old myth that has been proven false. Your dehydrator will not impact potency and more than drying with a fan will.
