Sha-boing BOING! My jars are 100% colonized!

One of the jars has so much condensation some water is pooling at the bottom, I hope that is not a problem.
Honestly, I didn't think I would even get this far. When I received the spore print in the mail I was very overwhelmed by the process. The information you guys share here is priceless! Thank you
I will give my jars a week now to consolidate. I am going to homedepot today to get my supplies for my sgfc. Does the size of the tub vary at all to the amount of cakes you have? I only have 8.
Also, I will get some spring water for my 24 hour dunk next week and will aslo "bake" the verm for 30min at 350 before I roll my cakes.

Nice jars!
So now it's time to build your SGFC. Get a 66 quart tub with a clear lid and drill it to spec (this is key). Next, head over to the garden section and grab a big bag of perlite. With only 8 cakes in your FC, you don't want to skimp on the depth of perlite.
Scratch the spring water, it's not necessary. You can also forego baking your vermiculite. Your "sterile" work has come to an end for this project, so there is just no need. At this point it's up to the mycelium to hold its own out in the dirty world. Tap water works fine for dunking and misting.

Thanks FM! I just purchased the 66qt container, however I could only fine small bags of perlite. I got three 8qt bags but I am starting to think that wouldn't be enough.

A 66qt is a big ass container for a few cakes. Save that for your monotub. Get something smaller. You don't want the cakes right on top of each other but if they're close in proximity they give off heat and help with the humidity.

Hey Gyo! I took a pic with the jars to give you an idea with the spacing, do you still think it is too big? Do you think 24qts of perlite is enough? Thanks!

The cakes are smaller then the jars so yeah I still think it's a bit too big since we use 66 qts for monos. If you look into your colonized jars you'll see the cake shrunk and is no longer the full size of the jar. I have 4 in a less then 20qt bin. A user named Munchauzen uses 66 qt SGFCs and does 36 cakes in there.
When you birth them and put them on foil you'll see what I mean,

Ok, I just started making my SGFC and my drilled holes looked chewed up to hell and some are even cracking. I have seen other's holes look really nice. What's the trick? I am using a good drill...

A nice fresh bit and high speed will make nice clean holes. No need to press to hard which will cause cracking. Those holes look fine, can be easily cleaned up with a razor blade

If you heat up the plastic tub a bit before you drill, it will decrease the chance of cracking.
