That's a pressure gauge on top just to make sure that our holes are enough. I'm not sure how many gallons it holds. It's 5'x5'x2'. We punched the polypipe with a 3" nail. Every 6" at the end nearest the source and gradually becoming closer. Just our attempt to make the heat even. Not sure if it makes a difference.

Lipa, we have a rice farm and we need lots of people at certain times but certain times they're not busy but we still need to employ them.

We also have an orchid lab where we sell the flasks and growers flower it. So that is also our plan for the mushrooms, teach people to grow and we supply the spawn. Not many growers wants to mess with spawn-making. Not making money on mushrooms yet :frown: but hopefully soon.

Hi dude. Wondered what happened to you......"While I look out my window with a weird look on my face"

Sorry to crash your thread. i have been wondering how and why She makes 4000Kg of spawn at a time for some time now. 1kg bags make sense now. That's a lot of freaking spawn. To go through that much spawn before it goes bad is mind boggling. I envision a willy wonka myco factory with tons of umpa loompas packing bags. That's like 176,369lbs of substrate at the rate I was inoculating my calocybe bags.

Sparkle are the sorghum bags flat and thin during processing?

And this is how we inoculate these bags, 3 bags every 20 seconds!

Houdinair must you really make an autoclave?
We steam 4,000 kilo bags (sorghum) for 7 hours at 90 C and they turn out great. We pile the trays and cover with 3 layers of tarp. Much simpler than loading and unloading an autoclave.

i cant imagine how many tons of mushrooms you can produce from that amount of spawn its so many.

in 4000 kilo bags how is the contamination rate?

what is that grain? do you hav a machine to boil that huge amount of grain?

Houdini,

Can you comment on the eating, and if these came out to be anything unique or special?

Thanks,
Mark

markalbob,

if the fruit stays on too long there is some yellowing that takes place, especially under drier conditions, and those fruits are a little bitter. I haven't  cooked any yet, only cleaned and ate them raw. cooking may make them more palatable.

my underlying thought is: do these produce any significant beta glucans?

the uniqueness i saw deals with their caps staying convex without upturning. the people i shared them with absolutely liked the curb appeal. pure white looks good.

Markalbob,

I did not like the taste of these as much as regular Blue oysters. These were too bitter. Always make me think of beta glucans though.
