Tigons and Ligers exist....
Theoretically it's possible...
...But did RR really do it? And if so where are they now? I want spores..

I can't find the thread now. Its out there somewhere though. Pics and all included.
If you're going to do species crosses though, screw the pan/cube bit. I want to see warm weather oyster/azures.

Nope. Not that one.
This one specifically had pics of cross species fruit bodies. Pretty sure they were oyster and some other non-active species.

"Protoplast Fusion": That's the best search term for people that are interested.
I started to read about it and quickly realized that I was reading words and not concepts.

Thanks for the encouraging input everyone, very very much appreciated. I collected a lot of spores over the years, I'm still quite the noob and am bound to ask some ridiculous questions.. but I'd make it my life's work if I could create an APE-like strain that has a high chance of producing Philospher Stones invitro. The idea of crossing a cube with the albanism and potency of APE + Ps Atlantis/Tampanensis/Galindoi does seem a bit fringy.. but if it actually works, fruits and sporulates, and has sclerotia producing ability..
Incredible seeing that picture of RR's work. So as a prerequisite, one would need to master agar, then trait isolation and then obtain some rattlesnake venom in order to even have that small chance.. I'd have to strike gold multiple times. Just knowing it could be possible is enough to pursue it though.

Yeah, I did. But mushrooms aren't humans and I'd like more input.
I don't think you have a good enough grasp on the mushroom world to be asking about cross-breeding.

Fungi and humans both belong to the super-kingdom opisthokont. Mushrooms are more like humans than plants, which I think is fucking really cool.

Yeah, humans and chimpanzees don't have offspring but I'm sure something could be done in a lab.
I heard Stametz say that before, about mushrooms being more related to humans than any other kingdom. Bananas.
I have three favorites, APE, Dancing Tiger, and Ps Atlantis.. (I'm aware Atlantis isn't a cube) I was just hoping it would be possible to one day combine them all.

So what exactly is the reason behind the snake venom?
I thought he used it with the redboy spores to try and weaken the spore shell so that they had a better chance of germinating due to their age (20 years or so IIRC)??
If you were to use new, fresh spores then why would you need snake venom to try and cross breed mushrooms?
