Sub depth?
    #21065818 - 01/04/15 01:03 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

I have a question on sub depth. I currently use 3 1/2" of sub in my tubs which works out great for 5qts spawn, a brick of coir and 2qts of verm plus some gypsum = 15qts. I run 3 tubs and want a way to constantly have tubs in rotation as in having tubs colonizing while the others are flushing out so I bought 3 more but these new tubs are an inch longer in width and length and after filling the new tub 15qts of water it only left me with 2 1/4 inch of sub depth. I don't want to change the formula I use because 1 brick of coir is perfect for 1 tub. So my question is should I buy new tubs that are same size as my originals or will 2 1/4" of sub be ok? I only like to go 2 flushes before starting new.

While I like my 3 inch subs, as long as the nutrients are there, 2 1/4 inch subs will be fine.

I found some conflicting answers about the subject. Found a post from RR from way back saying 2" sub works fine unless your looking for a bunch of flushes out of your sub. Thanks for the response, I think it should work for 2 flushes, guess I'll find out soon enough
