We need more information than that homie,

How did you construct your homemade telescope? Can we see pictures of the construction process?

What brand/model of binoculars are you comparing your homemade telescope to?

What specific stargazing task are you looking to do? Just a general look-around, finding common celestial objects, photography?

My initial guess would be the more accurate cleanliness and alignment of the optics in the binoculars as compared to a homemade telescope, but I can't know for sure unless you answer the questions above.

this thing doesnt zoom

any binoculars really. think need to reflect with an eye piece to magnify.

simply just two magnifying lens from local department store....

wrapped up in recycled cardboard...

its not really comparison it just doesnt have any zoom it looks like.

magnifying glasses have an extremely short focal lenth...which causes chromatic dispersion (prism-like effect) which blurs the images you are trying to see. It also makes focusing less precise and more difficult.

a two-lense system will not provide zoom when observing something at near-infinite distance. This is why refractor telescopes have multiple eyepieces for different "zoom". Each eyepiece has a lense shaped a particular way to blow up a larger or smaller section of the gathered light from the primary lense to a specific size at a particular distance from the eyepiece. Adjustable zoom usually requires a multi-lense optical setup.

at this point, a cheap refractor from a bookstore or local toy store would be a better bet than what you are trying to do...or just stick to your binoculars
