Uh yes. How else could I word it? Obviously anything other than adamant agreement would be seen as slander by you. Its a dysphoric separation between your mental sexuality and the physical body you were born with. Something that could adequately be described as a psychological problem.

Google. You should try it sometime.
I did, they all carried a vague resemblance to the real deal at best. In other words you can tell they were born male.

Yes I am.
that's what I said.
I said "youre"
unless you are really trying to grammar Nazi me over an apostrophe..
Well, calling someone "A transgender" was also grammatically incorrect, but the youre thing was serious. Review the pub rules.
Rule 34:
"Your" does not mean, "You're". Google that shit.
Also, "To", "Two" and, "Too". Figure that shit out.
Don't forget, "There", "Their" and, "They're". That shit's important.
Remember: Which Witch is Which. A shitty song with an important lesson. YouTube that shit.
Failure to heed this rule may result in hanging by the neck until death

You ever hear of this particular psychological disorder? It's always fascinated me and the disorder seems oddly relevant in a discussion about transgenderism.

Gender dysphora is specifically listed in the DSM-5. I don't see how calling it a mental illness is flaming. Not PC of course, and not the term that I would personally use. But when someone is posting about schizophrenia or suicidal ideation it's not a problem to point out that something is up there. I have no problem telling folks posting psychotic things that they have some mental issues that need sorting out though, which I guess makes me a bit hypocritical. Greenterror comes to mind there... Thing is, that's not against the rules, and as current literature does define gender dysphoria as a mental disorder neither should that. The fact is that gender dysphoria is an issue that needs sorting out. Getting the hormone treatment & gender reassignment surgery seems to be the best method of doing so, and thankfully it is a viable option in this day & age. Wasn't that long ago when that wasn't an option, and people wishing to do so were treated in a atrocious manner. I'm not saying that more acceptance doesn't need to adopted by folks, but those of you that are trans now are definitely lucky to be alive in 2015 as opposed to 50+ years ago.

I haven't, it's fascinating to read about. It deals with all the same elements that gender reassignment deals with, the only difference is the latter deals with sexuality. Every single reason they list for not wanting to amputate to fulfill their desires is exactly why I so strongly disagree with gender reassignment being the answer. Although it is the easiest fix at the moment. There's clearly something a lot more deeper than personal choice and preference going on here.

There are so many disorders anymore. I find myself wondering how many are us discovering a reason behind various behaviors, and how many are just are made up. For example; oppositional defiance disorder. I call bullshit & bad parenting in that one.

QFT. While I support the right to modify your body into whatever gender (or lack thereof) you'd like, the motives behind such a decision almost always seem to be driven by some sort of psychological issue. I harbor no hate or disdain for trans folk, I accept them as people, and feel like everyone should do the same. Though I do think it's ridiculous to be expected to find MtF trans folk sexually attractive under the fear of not being "PC" or whatever.
That being said, living as a trans person is probably an inherently traumatic experience, so I would never add to that by belittling them for being the way they are.

It's not, but not everything in the DSM is an actual mental illness, many are just called that because it is atypical in our society to act that way.

You are not allowed to call an idiot an idiot here.
Just making sure everybody is up on the rules. I hate warning/banning people for trans shit.
The most recent DSM has greatly lessened the mental illness aspects of gender Dysphoria in its definition making it harder for psychological pros to collect insurance money from trans clients.

Exactly. People fear what they don't understand, which is why is there such discrimination against them. I'd like to think this will change over time...but it's probably gonna be awhile. I mean there's still a fight over weed, and gay marriage is still a huge issue that many oppose. History shows that people are slow on the uptake.

Rose, can I ask you how you feel about the following...
What I thought was most interesting about Valentijn's speech was that she said that she didn't understand the gender construct. She basically had the conversion surgery to fit in with society's insiders joke that is gender. Something everyone seemed to intuitively get but she didn't. The surgery made things less complicated for her, but if it wasn't for the deeply engrained insiders joke of distinguishing between male and female based on body parts, she would have been fine with not having the surgery.
Do you recognise this view of gender? How do you view it?

Gender is something I have learned a bunch about during transition.
Gender is mental, or conceptual. This means I can see myself as female and you can see me as male and we both would be right.
Sex is physical and chromosomal. I have a male's chromosomes but soon I will be a female legally.
It is kind of a joke, really.

I logged out to see what the hell is going on in this conversation. Its no co-incidence that all its all the same type of person in this thread that i have on ignore.
I think people that haven't known trans people have a fear that trans people are trying to "trick" them, which i personally haven't known anyone to do.
Anyhow I hate this topic, the trans people i've known were all very nice and relatively normal, or about as much as you'd expect living with the feeling people are constantly judging you and threatened by your existence.
