I have anxiety issues in my sober life, and shrooms seem to magnify that 10,000 times over. I wish I could enjoy myself and relax, listen to music and laugh my ass off like some people do. On very low doses I can have a good time, but most times I usually want to literally curl up in a ball, rock back and forth and wait it out.
It usually starts when I notice someone else is having some trouble, and the tension causes an avalanche of worry in my mind. I feel the need to comfort that person but I'm very uncomfortable myself. There aren't any specific worries, just a vague feeling of having fucked up somehow.
I think it highlights the chronic tension in my chest, and the trip seems to feed off of that.
Kind of killed weed for me too. I have the same feelin when I smoke now.
I can sort of let go and meditate, or at least step outside myself and realize my mind is just tripping. This has been very interesting, as I've noticed my thoughts constantly churning and going round and round, and I'll say something out loud and it'll feel like the "real" me, an innocent body who's being absolutely tortured and exhausted by constant anxious thoughts.
Still, I wish I could enjoy myself more.

I feel the same way about shrooms as well. I have moderate anxiety in my sober life as well.
I have a much better time on LSD to be honest.

Totally normal. I think that it affects everyone differently, and I'm nearly as bad as you. I'm lucky however because I have found ways to get around the anxiety. I find that preparing 3 days in advance and cleaning my diet helps. I also like to read back on old (positive) trip reports of similar doses so I can remember what to expect. Then I like to have someone/something to keep me occupied for that first hour, and always try to have a "sitter" in the house within shouting distance.
You might consider some of those approaches, but if not, at least know that you're not the only one who deals with these issues. I think that you'd be more in the minority if you felt no anxiety from mushrooms.

Tripping may not be for you. However, if you want to continue, I suggest practicing meditation in everyday life. focusing on your breathing goes a long way in calming one down. If you can learn to really let go, then tripping should cause less anxiety. The same goes for cannabis. I would recommend practicing this with cannabis since you get anxious when high too. Some people just don't like cannabis though. You will find people on here that love to trip, but don't like weed. Good luck to you.

Me too! LSD is much less anxiety provoking...but i had once experience where I had smoked joint mid trip and that sent me into one fuck of a bad trip.

What is the purpose of focusing on the breath as you say? Is it to get your attention away from your thoughts? Is that what meditation is? If so, aren't videogames and TV meditation?

Focusing on your breath allows you to regulate it. This is a common practice for runners because controlling your breathing rate directly controls your heart rate. So, if you force yourself to breath in deep breaths and exhale deep breaths, then you will slow your heart rate. When one experiences anxiety, their heart tends beat fast. In meditation, you can slow your breathing down so much to reach a very calm state. The other thing about focusing on your breathing is that it forces everything else out of your mind because all you are thinking about is breathing. Over periods of time, this can lead your mind to interesting places. I can't say that I think about my breathing while I am watching TV etc.

4-HO knows it.
Meditation can really help anxiety if u do it on the frequent.
Focusing on the breath also calms the mind. Like a "sensory feedback" Loop, it can settle the mind so you can focus your mind to your inner dialog/thoughts.
having anxiety is not a good combo with shrooms since shrooms can be very challenging to handle, especially in high doses.
For now, practice reducing anxiety with meditation. Go online and search for some DIY meditation practices.

Do you eat alot of sugar or carbs? Low blood sugar can cause anxiety/panic attacks. So can caffeine.
Inositol is really good for helping to relieve anxiety. It's good as a sleep aid also. It's a B vitamin and has been used in large amounts with no problems.
Of course, all the things that produce good health are a good idea - like a good diet and exercise. Lacto-ovo vegetarian is considered to be the most healthy diet.
