Mist once using the SGFC?

Hello. I watched the recommended videos about the SGFC- video 3 I believe. It wasn't specific in how often you were supposed to mist the cakes.
How many times a day are we supposed to mist?
Is it species specific? All but one of my cakes seemed to have stalled.
I soaked for 24 hours and rolled, but things seem to be really slow. Are you only supposed to use distilled water for misting?
Thanks!

Mist when the water on the walls has evaporated water on the cakes has evaporated.
Fan after you have misted.
EDIT: Corrected the info I was giving out

2-3 times a day is better then 3-4 unless you see drying out.
Mist when the cake is dry, not on a schedule. Fan after you mist and never fan without misting.

Please do not give advice about things you know little about.....
Mist again once the water on the cakes has evaporated......pay attention to what matters, which would be the cakes, not the walls of the chamber.
We mist the cakes, not the walls.

Is water on the walls relevant? I was under the impression it doesn't matter.
I personally just mist my cakes, not the walls of the SGFC. I'm still figuring out the correct misting/fanning schedule -- just takes a little experience. But you want to mist and fan and then wait until the water evaporates off the cakes before misting again. I err on the side of less misting/fanning as I overdid it in the beginning -- not allowing the water to evaporate and stunting the fruiting.

He was talking about watching evaporation on the walls to tell how properly your SGFC is running but you're right.

it's not evaporation on the walls it's condensation and it doesn't tell you anything other than that you have a temperature differential

Should be no condensation in a properly built SGFC. When I misted my walls the walls were dry in 6 hours along with my cake.

And there really shouldn't be condensation inside a SGFC. With all those holes and fresh air coming in the walls should be dry. When I first started I didn't know this so I kept trying to raise my humidity until the walls were all wetted but it wouldn't happen because my SGFC was made and working just fine

Eeek, sorry guys. My bad. I edited it and corrected it.
Also I was not referring to condensation. I was referring to the water on the walls after a misting.

It should evaporate within a few hours....if not the chamber is not getting enough FAE.

Thanks all. I don't have any condensation on the box. Is tap water okay?

Why not mist the walls?
couldn't misting the walls only be beneficial because it will make the humidity rise? I don't see anything wrong with that

Because it doesn't make any sense. You want evaporation off of the substrate, not the walls of the chamber. If misting the walls is what's raising the humidity, then why not just throw out the perlite? Oh, that's right, the perlite is what's humidifying the chamber. It makes ZERO sense to mist your walls unless you're trying to determine whether or not you're getting enough FAE.
