How's my S. Divinorum doing?
    #21039205 - 12/29/14 12:07 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Looking for opinions from growers more experienced with this plant.
There has been one leaf break off with an entire stem intact. I'm not sure about new growth, there seems to have been some within the week that I've had it.

Here are two pictures from the first day of receiving it.

I watered it the day I received it and just last night. I haven't given it much water each watering. I've been waiting for the dirt to get dry.

Looks fine and seems to be adjusting well. Don't be surprised if you lose the leaves with Brown areas on them, they do this and new growth should emerge and do fine in your environment.

You should wait for the soil to dry before watering instead of giving small amounts. Waiting for it to dry ensures that the plant needs water, excess water can lead to root problems with newly acquired plants. Watering deeply as opposed to small amounts and shallowly will promote the roots to grow deeper and be more tolerant of drought. Watering like you have promotes shallow roots that tend to be water thirsty, the topsoil dries faster than soil deeper down. It can also lead to salt build up in the soil, which can cause pH issues and excessive fertiliser salts building up in the pot. At the least you should leach the pot once or twice a month if you choose not to allow some to drain out the bottom of the pot with each watering.
