I really don't have any access to cow fields and i really don't want to be pumped full of rock salt just to go mushie hunting...any tips would be much appreciated. haven't really had to much time to explore the surrounding woods just yet but i have found some cubes growing off dead grass in the yard but no where enough to make me happy lol. any advice would be much appreciated!! thanks fellas!! happy hunting and nice pics soo far im digging this site a lot!!
I commend your enthusiasm, however asking for locations is against the rules and for very good reasons. It keeps everyone safe, free and shroomy. If I told you to go to any given location on an open forum anybody could see it. Not only you, but also law enforcement (the trigger happy fellows who would put you in a cage, take your resources and ruin your reputation).
The good news is that this is Florida and it's the wet season. If you can't find any mushrooms (look in any cattle pasture, it's the best and easiest way), you simply aren't trying. It's too easy. Good luck, happy hunting and welcome to our community.

FINALLY
My field just did not do it for me so far, so I went out looking in other fields and came across a very generous preserve My new fav spot.
Cubes, check.

Blue Meanies, check.

And the full haul yesterday

I found a huge cube. but my buddy has the pic. When I get it i'll post it. The biggest one i've ever found, hands down. Also found reishi out there.

Wouldn't you know I'd move to a part of Florida that has no woods or pastures around to hunt in

I'm trying to think of what part you're referring to and am coming up blank. The only place I can think of is Miami or Broward but there are plenty of state and national parks close by. It's right next to the Everglades.

I moved to the Tampa bay area, and there are no pastures here, and no wooded areas either for that matter. The small patches of wooded areas you do find are inhabited by filthy bums which have littered them up something awful. I'm talking trash, and tents everywhere,so I wouldn't feel safe out there regardless. I used to have no problem with homeless people until I saw how they have destroyed this part of Florida, and what's left of it's natural state
I'm starting to miss all my miles and miles of pristine untouched wilderness a fella could get lost in, back in Kentucky, and all the mushrooms there were to find too

Even though I can no longer hunt mushrooms,I wouldn't trade Florida to go back to that horrible state for anything!
Being closed up for five months out of the year because of freezing cold, ain't my cup of tea,and it stays warm year round here

Hillsborough state park is right there and along the coast there are a bunch of small city/county spots. If you live in the city it's a short drive in any direction to nice habitats, mostly east and north. Even in Miami I can hop in the Jeep and 20 minutes later I'm in the swamp. I've spent a few weeks in Ybor and hunted mushrooms every other day. When you say there's nowhere to hunt in the Tampa area that's just not accurate.

I didn't mean that there is no where to hunt in the whole Tampa Bay area, nor did I state that I should have been more specific,my bad. I meant in my immediate area there is no where to hunt. I also have no car,so I can't go to any of the parks,or natural areas here, and there are none close to my house.

That's the problem with most cities - we create our own habitats and push the wilderness away. I guess with no car you'll be stuck where you are, but there's a lot of smaller conservation areas scattered around Tampa.

I know man, there is hardly any wildlife areas left in Florida, because of all the damn people, and dude, all the swamps, small patches of woods, and water in general here is loaded with trash. I mean tons of trash too,it's sick!
I can't believe this city wont do anything about it
I'm not actually in Tampa, just the Tampa Bay area,45 minutes North of Tampa.
