Cloning to BRF

So about 4 days ago I inoculated a very small amount of BRF in a jar using polyfill as a filter. Its about a 1/4th inch tall. I used the tissue of a 2 day old shroom that I had sitting in the fridge in a paper bag.
1 of my jars has the tissue sitting on top of the brf and I managed to shake the tissue on a second jar under the brf.
The tissue was pretty beat up so it was almost black from bruising by time I was done.
Now its entirely black, a bit shriveled looking, and has absolutely no myc growth from it. its been 3 days.
Anyoje know why this happened?

because that's a horrible way to clone, who said that was a good idea? link to your cloning TEK you used?

No tek used, just made a bit of sense when I thought of it. It was more of a practice run in sterile technique on a shroom I had laying around. Just so id be a bit more familiar when my agar came in.

There's nothing sterile about using clone tissue from a dirty fridge mushroom to inoculate a jar of substrate.

I was attempting the general act of cloning tissue.
I wasnt expecting it to work, im just more curious as to why it didnt/if anyone has been successful doing it.

Well you said the tissue was black, this should have been a red flag. The tissue was dead.

clone at the freshest available moment. if you have to put in the fridge use a paper bag but try to use within 24 hours. inner stem tissue taken with a sharp scalpel shouldn't be so damaged as to turn into slime. you ideally want to clone to a 2d medium like agar to ensure you have a clean culture before transferring it to a substrate like a cake.

I thought u clone mushrooms on petri dishes with agar then transfer clean wedges to a LC then inject BRF cakes?
I am missing something.

leave the LC step out why add another vector for contamination and more time lag to inoculation just use the agar directly and skip the syringe too

No syringe?
But how to you get the agar into the BRF cakes without a needle?

From what I've seen most people go from agar to grain for inoculation. Could you collect mycelium from agar to a syringe -- similar to creating a spore syringe?

Usually we drop the agar into a jar of grains but I have heard of people using a grain filter on a BRF jar and dropping a wedge on top of the brf. I dont know if it works but if its anything like grains it should nom nom nom the BRF.
to me if you have the means to do agar work you have the means to use grain
Oh or you could blend up the agar into a liquid innoculant and use a needle I guess

not that hard. skip the dry verm layer and use a grain jar lid...
