determining jar water content by weight
    #2104799 - 11/14/03 04:39 AM (14 years, 12 days ago)

okay, so we all see what happens when the jars are too wet or too dry.
there is a simple way to gauge the water content of your substrate.
simply weigh it before and weigh it after.
any loss or gain in weight will be due to water.

i do believe that a properly filled pf jar should be around 270 grams.
that number is not for the full fruiting mixture.

i am talking about a foaf's half pint ball jelly jars, and regular jars. they seem to be the same weight.

note there was no metal disc on top, just tyvek which would change the weight for some of you

they were filled to the point where the band lid ends, when it is screwed on.
