Drinking after a tat?

Every website has different answers and I'ma make sure to ask my artist but have you ever had any bad experiences drinking alcohol after getting tattoo'ed as far as the tat itself coming out worse? I know it's bad to drink prior but I'm not tryna take any risks after, either.
I'm getting one of the mushroom runners tatted on me today so I'm super psyched and wanna have a drink afterwards and talk mushroom stuff.

I think they tell you not to drink beforehand because it makes your blood thinner and you'd bleed all over the place. Don't know about afterward though. I imagine if the tat is already scabbing it should be fine.

I wouldn't take the risk. That ink is for life. How horrible would you feel if it got fucked up?

No alcohol 8 hours prior, preferably none all day of, and my artist recommends 1 day after just so it "scabs quickly and heals better"

I got tat while I was drinking with the buddies. Not much blood, and it healed nicely.

there are plenty of reasons not to drink before getting one
but the only reasons I can think of to avoid drinking after 1. doing something stupid and damaging the area 2. not taking care of the tattoo while intoxicated

I don't have any tattoos, but I've gone to a local shop with my buddy getting a tattoo after splitting a 5th of vodka.
It was just fine. His tattoo came out great and there was no excessive bleeding.

Turned out alright and I got quite wasted last night. Actually turned down a hit of marshmallow acid so I could tend to it better.

It's drinking BEFORE getting a tat you need to be most worried about. My friend's mom is a tattoo artist and she has a strict policy of not tattoing anyone that comes in wasted or has drank any significant amount of alcohol in the last ~8 hours. The reason being it thins the fuck out of your blood and you will bleed like a stuck pig while getting tattooed. It makes a total mess and makes it 10x harder for the artist. If you are not drunk, you bleed a tiny bit, but it coagulates/beads up on your skin. Drinking afterwards, or even a little during the tattoo is fine.. as long as it's not an 8 hour session. But if you drink heavily afterwards, it wont heal as easily.

I think the general opinion is it's alright to drink after as long as you're considerate of your tattoo in an intoxicated state. I'd imagine if you're already bleeding heavy though, drinking wouldn't be recommend right after.

Yeah drinking after is generally fine as long as you take care of it. Which isn't that hard... keep it bandaged and clean it very gently with a very mild soap once or twice a day for the first day or two.. when it starts to scab, don't pick at it and apply a tiny bit of alcohol-free lotion. Don't go swimming etc until it's healed. Basically treat it like an open wound, because it is. Care of the tattoo the first 3-4 days after is the most important to making sure it heals properly and stays looking good.
