whoa, we so didn't connect the dots, telling you that reading someone's works isn't going to change anyone's minds unless the mind is willing, and if it's willing then it's waning, and needs more, and if it needs more, someone else's words will do fine, as long as you get IDEAS.

Okay, fine, sure. I have a college degree in philosophy and have written many papers on Nietzsche and many other 19th century philosophers (and 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st... and ancient Greek). I do research in order to be a good philosopher. Original ideas don't pop out of thin air, you synthesize original theses out of old theses. In order to do that, you have to read them. Let's read some of your amazing philosophy.

some people delve into clarity, some people stare.
as one can see: providing one's own philosophy ^ and giving a response, is far too difficult. HUH? what's better? what IS "clarity"? what is staring, and what is it it into? what is delving, for that matter?
well, you pick and choose. this is why we write stuff, to retain information, so we can sustain our learning faculties.

This thread is just a circle jerk of butthurt. It's like the only thing I ever see in the pub is people arguing about the same shit every other week.

Yea, I blame the mike brown threads, I'm even afraid to mention that name in fear of another debate. Ever since those threads the pub went to real shit, and all the propaganda filled threads and their politics, which don't even belong there, aren't helping one bit. Go figure.

Being an atheist has nothing to do at all with whether or not a person lives by that creed. Just as being a Christian or having religion has anything to do with living by certain principles.
But just by principle, here is commandment 11: Don't be a pompous ass and assume that people with religion are beneath you.
People should be viewed based on their actions not on the group they belong to.

I agree to an extent. I do think people can be judged by what groups they belong to though. If there's anything you can judge a person on it is their beliefs. Not that I dismiss all religious people or anything -I don't think belief in god specifically matters that much- but I do judge people for hateful or simply ignorant views, to some degree

Yeah. As an atheist of a certain age I find the pomposity and smugness of the child atheists just as annoying as the god botherers and enlightened ones.
In regard to near death experiences as evidence of anything doesn't it ever occur to you spiritualists who cite them that if it was real we wouldn't have just a tiny sample of these hallucinations but millions of them? Millions upon millions.
