So windows 8 has this deal where if you are connected to wifi, it will disconnect you after a few minutes and you have to keep reconnecting and its a huge pain in the ass.
I have searched the internet for solutions and I have tried every solution I have found including turning off bluetooth, uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless drivers for my laptop, and changing my power saving options. Nothing seems to work and I keep getting disconnected.
I know its an issue with my laptop because I stay connected to the same wifi using my ipad. So if there is anyone here that knows their shit with computers, please help me before I throw my laptop out the window!

With my face against the floor I canโt see who knocked me out of the way. I donโt want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, Iโm too busy being calm to disappear. Iโm in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

See how long other devices remain connected to the router.
Is the router old?

My laptop will stay connected for 3-5 minutes and then all the sudden it loses the connection. But if I use my ipad with the same router/network, it stays connected just fine

Maybe the signal from your router isnt strong enough to maintain a signal or the WIFI receiver on the laptop isnt strong enough.
What kind of router do you have and how far is your laptop from your router?

Try wiring it to the modem with ethernet and see what happens.
If it stays connected, then either your wireless signal is too weak or your wireless card is shot. You can get D-link USB wireless cards for cheap.

2 other things it could be:
your neighbors could be on the same wifi frequency as you fucking it up. that happened to us for like 4 months before we figured it out
also there is some wifi setting i forget which one. i think its called beacon interval. try fucking with that.
there are like a bunch of possible reasons why this could be happening.
go out to a coffee shop with your laptop and see if it can connect fine to a different wifi.
